New Orleans on self-destruct mode?

After watching the insanity that is downtown New Orleans (I'm not even going to bother linking, it's all over every news website and paper) I'm really starting to wonder if the whole place isn't going to end in a mass riot.

The lawlessness started with the looting.  Morons broke into stores, not just to get food and water and supplies, oh no...they took anything that wasn't nailed down.  EVERYTHING was fair game.

Then it spread to the streets. Idiots were shooting at the police and National Guard.  The people that were trying to help them, to rescue them, came under fire, and they backed off.  I don't blame them a bit.

Now there are people dying of dehydration.  Bodies are laying in the streets.  People are screaming and crying about how they need help, but no help is coming.  They don't see that help WAS coming, but help got fired upon and attacked, so help went away. 

Buses went in, trying to get people loaded up to evacuate.  The drivers got scared because of the lawlessness they observed, so they closed the doors and they drove away.

People are screaming about how the don't need the National Guard with guns, they need water and food, and they do...but would YOU be prepared to take supplies into that place right now?  Would you be unafraid to drive a truck with water and food on it down to the Convention Center or the Superdome?  I wouldn't.

Lawlessness rules supreme in New Orleans, and it's going to cause that place to self-destruct.

No, as they have already reported, the emphasis has changed from rescuing to law enforcement.  A shame really.  But it will be corralled.

Sigh.....why is it always dehydration when places are flooded?

While they're waiting on the bottled water, pass out bleach. It's easier to get, is easily found in fact and a little goes a long, long way. A little bit of bleach mixed in will make the water taste bad, but kills most of the bacteria. Granted, this won't remove whatever chemicals are mixed in, but if you're that desperate and bottled water isn't arriving quickly enough....................

Then I say that it's overdue to become common knowledge. They should teach it in school, in first aid, in disaster relief classes. It's not perfect as a solution, but it can save lives. They could have put it out after that damned tsunami. They could put it out now.

I was reading on CNN on how a mom begged a person that was being evacuated to take her 2 month old so the baby could have a chance.
Jayna will be 2 months in 9 days.... reading that sent me bawling.
