Will there be another build soon?

The fix for the crash when selecting a ship from the ship list is working fine but the autopilot and pathfinding problems are a serious distraction from discovering other problems.

Thanks,
Jack

Which specific pathfinding issues do you mean?

I know we fixed a problem where a sihp will abort auto pilot if it meets an obstacle.

We were nearly ready to put up a build tonight but there were too many little buglets in. Ranges are going to take some balancing to get right.

We are going to re-evaluate what needs to be in beta 2 though. We may push beta 2 back 2 weeks so that we can put in the star bases.

Beta 1Z MAY have minor races in. They're in here but there's all sorts of gotchas. We only have 5 of them in so far and they're basically identical to major races presently except for determinging end of game stuff.

Kind of funny, we could add hundreds of races if we wanted, it's purely a user interface limit presently. The AI is designed to handle any number of AI players.

The auto pilot problems that are very vexing to work around are the ones where a ship on autopilot just plain stops moving without manual intervention. The ship stays on auto pilot but stays where it is (short of its destination). There have been several threads on this problem. If the problem was simply that the ship would drop out of auto pilot before it should it would be selected by the next ship routine. When it stays on auto pilot without moving you have to run with autorun off, bring up the ship list, and click on each ship that is on autopilot to make sure it has moved (the ship list doesn't even show the correct number of moves left, shows max moves instead of 0). Then you have to take them off of autopilot one at a time and move it at least one tile manually before re-designating its destination.

Cheers,
Jack

I think that got fixed.

Still have the problem concerning Auto Pilot in both the Gigantic Galaxy and Huge Galaxy. Gets freustrating to find another race on the system you were after, only because I forgot to keep the ship moving.

The autopilot failures still happen here, although in this build it seems to pick up all the other ships if you force something else to move, instead of failing every third or fourth ship, as it did in the past.

Yeah, you guys don't have the fix yet. We're working getting the build out.

As long as there is another build (or two) before beta 2, I,d say go ahead and put in the bases and delay it....

I agree with Dave0. Get us a newer build, and I'll be happy to wait an extra couple weeks so beta 2 can have starbases. They sound like they'll become a major part in any strategy in the game.

Ok. We have a new build just about ready to go here. Just have to work out some kinks. I was about ready to put a new build up tonight when I found that the game will hang if a new animation we put in gets played while another screen is on top. :(

We'll try for tomorrow.

You can now win by alliances in the internal build.

I'm sure I would have had no trouble in my last game putting together a nice smooth Alliance. Everyone was trading heavily and nobody seemed to want a war at all. :)
