Faces of meth.

Link

The above link is to a website that shows the pictures of people's deterioration in menth addiction.  It's awful to see what meth does to people.  Most of the addicts shown have scabs on their faces from picking at the bugs they percieve to be under their skin.  Some are missing teeth - long term meth use makes teeth really fragile.

Go have a look...then tell me what you think.

I didn't look at the link 'cause I see it all the time. I think I'm in the epicenter of the Meth epidemic. Usually the teeth turn black and they get these little "meth bites" as we call them. I remember a girl that started coming to jail when I started in '94 and I thought she was hot. She was my age at that time (33) now today it's a different story! She is 44 like me but she looks 80! My wife came to see me at the jail one day while this girl was being booked and she was blown away that she was MY age!

Form what I've seen, Meth is the WORST drug there is. Worst than heroin, worst than crack, All of it! They've been lucky and busted several large labs around here lately and I ask: where the hell they getting all the pseudoshedrine? (yes, I know I misspelled that!) and the narcs tell me if ya got the $$$ there are some Pakistanis in Dallas/Ft. Worth that'll get you all you want.

I'm tellin' ya, THIS SHIT IS BAD! Most users are dead by the time they hit late 40s early 50s. No, I don't worry about Al Quaida in my life so much. It's THIS domestic problem of crank that scares the hell outa me. I'd rather my boys get killed by terrorist than get hooked on this nasty shit. At least it would be a quicker way to die.

I'm so speechless! It's horrible for these people. I've heard about meth and what it does. I don't see people with meth around me but I know it's here a lot too. When I watch the police programs they do bust a lot of Meth labs. Shovel is right,

A picture is worth a thousand words.  Which in this case is a good thing as I am speechless.  Thanks for the link.

Awful. I was struck by how much they (especially that first woman) had aged. Also, the skin complexion. Does it make the skin darker, or is that just lighting in the photos? Most tragic of all is that it's avoidable. Yikes.

Meth is derived from FARM chemicals, you know? The co-ops have had to put locks on their anhydrous ammonia tanks so these addicts can't steal the chemical. I just can't imagine how ANYONE would want to ingest in ANY form, any sort of pesticide or herbicide.

My mom works at a jail, too, shovel. She says the meth people are VERY unpredictable and they're really kind of scary when they're high. I've never had to interact with someone high on meth...so I really can't imagine.

Health teachers all over America should be showing those pictures to high school kids.

So true. And it seems like it takes A LONG time to come down. A drunk is cool the next morning, but a crankster can be a raging asshole for weeks.

Wow.....

All I can say is addiction is a powerful and disgusting thing.

Heard an story the other day on NPR that said in some states, health care in prisons is up as much as 300 percent just due to the extra dental work on the crystal-meth guys they're running in. Some prison systems are having huge huge budget crisises over the millions of dollars it's costing.

Maybe they should just pull all the old ones and issue false teeth when they go in for meth? Meh.

Interesting.  Shovel, have you seen this?  I am curious.

That'd work for me. I get a little irritated at that, actually...I have some teeth that need worked on and I have to pay for it (we've got military dental insurance, but there's still a co-pay)...but these crank-heads can ruin their mouths with their addiction and they get free dental work? That's bullshit.

Yes, it is. Powerful, that is...and the things that people will do not only to themselves but also to others in order to feed their addiction is the disgusting part.

A drunk is cool the next morning, but a crankster can be a raging asshole for weeks.

Oh yeah. It takes a while for that stuff to be metabolized totally out of the body, and sometimes the chemical changes it causes can take weeks to fix themselves.

Health teachers all over America should be showing those pictures to high school kids.

Yes, they should. No more of this 'this is your brain on drugs' garbage, they should run a 'this is your grille on meth' campaign. That'd get kids to pay attention....

I've never had to interact with someone high on meth...so I really can't imagine.

I've never had to deal with someone who was out of control high on meth, but I've dealt with plenty of people who were tweakin' a little. They twitch, rub their hands, lick their lips, blink, scratch themselves...and they don't realize that they're doing it.

Awful. I was struck by how much they (especially that first woman) had aged.

They call it 'meth slack'....there's a characteristic 'fallen' look to people's features, not to mention all the scars and scabs from where they've been picking and digging at their skin.

Sad stuff, dharma, sad sad stuff

VERY sad.

YES! They ALL 100% of them need dental work. And you and me gets to pay fer it. They know this and DEMAND it too.

What get's me, is after they're in jail, they expect everything to be PERFECT Like for example get angry if toast is burnt a little. Never mind they inject thmeselves with stuff made from lithium batteries, Annhydrous ammonia, muratic acid, starter fluid, etc...

What's funny too is how STUPID they are. They are fairly easy to catch because they are such dumbasses. I saw a cop fake one out once by saying "I don't believe you! I'm gonna take your pulse!" and then grab his wrist and look at his watch. The dumbass then got scared and spilled his guts! No, they ain't to bright. I dunno if that's caused by the meth or because they were that way from the start, so it's hard to tell.

Wow, I got lots of stories about these "cranksta gangstas" as they like to call themselves...

Hmmmm...that's CRAZY. And interesting....my cousin was in the St. Cloud Correctional Facility for several years, so I've been there.

How do they FIX something like that? I mean, really?

Yuck. Absolute yuck. But bless the people who have the courage to help the folks that choose to use that crap...and bless the people that know they need help to stop...
