Auto-hiding Side/Top/Bottom Bars

Bear with me - I'm a total n00b, but I'll try and explain what I'm trying to do s best I can.

I'm trying to make sidebars that while the mouse is not on them they're 1 pixel wide and therefore pretty much invisible, and then visible when the mouse is rolled over them. This bit, I can do with no problems - what gets me is how on earth am I meant to put an object onto aforementioned bar, when it's visible?

I probably haven't explained myself too well, so I'll try again - what I want is for when I hit the edge of the screen with the mouse, I got my lovely little MP3 Player I made to come up on my lovely little sidebar I made... but how do I get that MP3 Player onto that sidebar??

Just thought of something else I'd better add while I'm here - the idea of this is so these bars come on top of everything, so that while I'm surfing I can change what track I'm listening to without having to minimize everything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hmmm. I replied here once and now it's gone. Have you tried Object Dock? It's found here https://www.stardock.com/products/objectdock/
You can hide it on the edge, magnify the size on mouseover, change the appearance of the shortcut and direct it anywhere you want it to go, including your MP3. Not sure if this is what you are talking about or not.

Well I'm using DesktopX. As for actually making the bars, that's not a problem - I can't figure out though how to stick my MP3 Player controls onto the bar though, so that I only see them when the mouse is over the bar. That's my problem.

Well I didn't know where to put it so I did it twice - delete as necessary.

I've kind of given up on making my own bar, so I tried using one of the objects on this website - yet I can't get a single one of them to work. Those that I can actually get into DesktopX don't work as I want them, and the rest that probably would work are .zip files full of loads of files that I can't somehow make an object of. Hellllllp!
