The after Band Camp article...my account.

My last one...*sigh*

Well, I got back from my last band camp yesterday....so, here's what went on:

It was a pretty nice time...though for the most part it was hotter than Satan's balls. I got some bonding time in with friends...old and new. My section picked up two new freshmen...Matt, the kid's got a great voice and Olivia, none other than our very own Beebes's sister. They have worked pretty hard and I think they'll do just fine.

So, during the week I endured the sub par food they always have in such abundance....spongey pancakes, microwaved bacon..etc. and worked my ass off...but I have a nice tan now :D. We had our whole first show on the field marching and playing on Wed.....only 3 1/2 days...I think that's a record.

I believe it went very well...besides the fact that 3 people were caught smoking, but 2 ran off in the middle of the night and were kicked out of band camp. They called the police after awhile and were picked up, so they were safe. *sigh*...Kids these days...

Well, I suppose that's pretty much it...except for the last night stuff. Thursday is our little casual dance thing where we basically eat pizza, play music, and hang out for a bit. We have a couple traditions...one of which is where the Seniors sing the Freshmen, and the other which Beebes started and that's singing Closing Time. Sarah (as in NotSoSmellySarah) and I, being the only Seniors invited everyone to dance with us when we sang the Freshmen...before that we, 2 sophomores, and the aforementioned Freshman Matt sang Closing Time....that got the tears flowing before they streamed during the Freshmen...well, not my tears...but quite a few others. I would have sung Closing Time by myself, but I suck at singing...so I enlisted help...actually I wasn't going to sing it at all, but Olivia begged me and like the sucker I am...I gave in....but, it was worth it I guess. Afterwards there were warm fuzzies all around....heh, heh.

And so ends the tale of my last Band Camp....I think it went rather well...though I did miss Beebes and the good Capt....it wasn't quite the same...

Well, until next time,

Things will never be the same. Last year I was in that constant state of "this doesn't feel right". You get used to it after a while, but still... you miss the way things were.

Good to see you back.

I have to say that this band camp is one I will NEVER forget. So much happened in the short time that we were there that it is almost to much to believe, that it happened when we were there for only a week. But we did very well with the show this year! I am very proud of our freshmen!...they worked very hard and so did everyone else but they didn't know what to expect Sunday when we left, everyone else did!

I think there were some "warm fuzzies" all week...(but maybe that's just me!)

Ditto to missing Beebes and Capt. We will also miss you and Sarah, Zoo!!! You can count on that!

Yeah, I guess you could say that it was quite different this year without Brandon and Alex being there.

But to say the least I think this was one of the better years for me. As far as I know nobody hated me and wanted to kill me. But knowing my luck there's at least one person out there who does.

I think we did set some kind of record. It felt weird having the whole show done in like 3 days. And we also have a dance to a song for the second show.

Yea there were.......
