mcpserver - shutdown failure

Well....it's better than it was. With the 066b build of DGM I no longer get the mcpserver failure on startup but what I now have is that the system no longer shuts down properly.
During shutdown background tasks now hang during shutdown and require either a manual intervention or wait for the OS to decide that the task isn't responding to the shutdown command and have the OS kill the task before the shutdown will complete.
If I disable mcpserver and smartexception the problem goes away.
This is on a Windows 2000 system and the background task that shows up most frequently as hung during shutdown is the Hewlett-Packard control task for my scanner. Sometimes but not always there will be other hung background tasks waiting to be killed after the HP lamp software is taken care of.
