DesktopX 2.1 supports loading of widgets. A widget is a regular old program that simply requires DesktopX to be installed on your system (uses DesktopX as its run-time). It appears like a regular program in every way. DesktopX doesn't even have to be running.  DesktopX is a free download.

Brad
I'm thinking that a lot of these toys look useful to me now I have broadband which got me thinking - in the UK broadband is taking off and ADSL ISPs are all trying to differentiate their products via price and value-add. Maybe you could approach some of them about producing a broadband friendly desktopx enviroment with widgets for ohhhh, BBC News, AA roadwatch, etc?
Yeah, I know, a programmer giving business tips to a CEO (rolls eyes) ;-)

Stardock is successful because we've listened to what people have to say about our products. We have all sorts of usergroups and other forums that we take comments from and try and make our products better. So, nobody should ever feel that a "business tip" should not be said. Even if that tip isn't feasible, it sometimes gives us ideas of what else we can do. Thanks for the feedback.

Brad, that widget is cool! I will have to play around with it when I get a chance. DesktopX still amazes me with everything that it does.
