Mr. Mashed Potatoes

I’ve never been much of a potato person; sure I’ll eat fries or taters from time to time, but I am not crazy about them. My significant other, however, loves ‘em.
He has recently introduced me to his homemade mashed potatoes.
Oh, you should see how much care he takes in making them! He shines up his knife and begins peeling the potatoes with precision. He then thoroughly rinses them and meticulously begins cutting them up into cubes (I saw him doing this yesterday...it was adorable how much concentration he put into it). Soon after he puts the potatoes in water, he opens up the store bought package of brown gravy mix and prepares it (no, it’s not homemade like his potatoes, but still tastes great!) He allows the potatoes to boil and soften, then readies them to be mashed up.
The only ingredients my honey uses in his potatoes is milk and margarine. He mixes all ingredients and begins the squishing and the squashing and mishing and the mashing of his potatoes. He adds a few more dashes of his ingredients when he sees fit. After this is all done, he sets out salt and pepper, grabs a few plates and proclaims, “Honey, it’s readyy.”
Of course we have a main course (chicken in the case of last night), but the mashed potatoes were the star of the “show.” They were smooth and fluffy and creamy and oh so delicious! Yes, I know that potatoes aren’t the best food to eat if I want to lose weight and cut down on carbs....But they are my honey’s potatoes, and they are delicious, and by golly, I can't help it if he makes the best mashed potatoes this side of the Mississip.
The cook definitely gets a kiss for this.=)
maybe I could give the b/f this recipe! and yes, I do feel lucky that he likes to cook..he's made dinner for me several times.
