Is yer ig'nent?!

I was standing in line at Wal-Mart this morning, waiting behind a young black couple who had their cart piled high with food.

As they unloaded it, the woman of the couple would stop the cashier and ask how much the subtotal was.  As the subtotal crept higher and higher, the woman would rummage around the things left in the cart, have a few of them rung up and again ask "how much we got now?".

After about 15 mins of this palava and with a bunch of frozen foods left in the cart she finally said "ok, that's it,  We can't git no mo", paid for her purchases and her and her man left....leaving the cart of rapidly defrosting food stuff at the end of the register belt, in the way of the next person in line (me).

How fucking ignorant is that?! To not only hold up everyone else in line for 20 minutes with your bullshit picking around, but to leave food defrosting like that and just walk away?  Why can't you do what everyone else does and add stuff up (either in your head or on a calculator) as you're grabbing it off the shelves?  That's what I did when we were broke and had a limited amount to buy food with.  We went and got the essentials first, keeping a running total, and then if we had money left over at the end of it we got 'luxuries'.  We didn't just pile shit in the cart and worry about how we were going to pay for it at the damn register!

The mentality (or lack thereof) of some people just amazes me.  Is it any wonder we've got so many people flat broke and filing for bankruptcy if this is any example of how they manage their money?

I'll tell ya what I hate. Waiting in line behind somebody buying steak with food stamps and beer, cigarettes and lottery tickets with cash. I wish my bad habits were subsidized...

Yeah, I know.  I was behind someone who tried to buy dogfood with food stamps once.  When the cashier told her that she couldn't get dog food with food stamps, the woman had her kid run back and get some ground and stew beef to substitute it.

Un-fucking-believeable, huh?

That is so tacky, but I don't think it is a "black" issue I think it's a lack of respect issue. Let's face it there are so many idiots out there. I am amazed at the lack of respect I see every day with people everywhere.

Today at church this mom was in a side pew in the front and her two boys (they looked to be 7 and 9) were running up and down the aisles, laying down in the pew and on the floor, walking around, playing with the ropes on marked off pews. This all while the pastor was giving the sermon. Now I know I shouldn't judge (esp. in church), but I was so appalled! I was taught from a young age that out of respect to God yuo be on your best behavior at church especially. But the mom didn't even care or pay any attention. Makes me sick.

People are so damn rude. That couple could have probably cared less they were holding you up, and probably didn't even think what they did was wrong. what is happening to our society?

Janders:

I don't think it's necessarily a black thing either, it just happened that the one and only time I've seen anything like this it was a black couple doing it.  I'm sure there are plenty of white trash couples who would have done something similar.

It wasn't so much being held up that I minded as it was them leaving food that they weren't going to purchse and that couldn't be reshelved because it had been out of the freezer and cooler for too long.  The company took a hit...just the same as if the couple had walked out of the store with it without paying for it.

If I had behaved that way in church....if I had even talked or got up and walked around....I'd have had my ass beat and been grounded for a week. The parents of those kids weren't thinking about anyone else trying to enjoy the sermon, or they'd have made those kids sit down and shut up.  What they did was just plain rude.

But you're right....people are becoming more and more disrespectful and more and more rude, and they don't see anything wrong with it.

Sure, it wasn't done well, but it could have been worse. They could have had everything rung up and then realized they couldn't pay for it all. Although, I don't see any excuse for leaving the food to defrost there...

GUILTY!!! Ok, not of that, but one time I was the jerk. I had a full cartload of groceries, and in a rush I didn't pay attention to which checkout I pulled my cart up to.

The cashier didn't say a word as she rang up my order. As the last of my groceries were bagged, I noticed the sign. I felt like a total idiot!! I apologized to the people behind me and the cashier. Everyone laughed (although I'm sure there weren't so many snickers before I noticed and apologized.

Like I said... GUILTY!!! ;~D
