Why is that?

If I were to say "Bob Geldof" to you, what would you think of?

Chances are you'd say "Live Aid", or if you're younger "Live 8".

If I were to say "Usher" to you, or "Nelly" or "Fifty Cent", what would you think of?

Again, chances are you'd say "rap" or "hip hop" or "bling".

Bob Geldof, a white man, a non-African American has raised millions of dollars to help African people living in poverty.  He's drawn the world's attention to the horrors that happen on a daily basis in Africa.

Usher, Nelly et al, black men, African Americans have done....not a lot.

Why is that?  Why is it the black Americans, or African Americans as they like to be called....why is it that they've done little to nothing to raise money to assist the people living in the country they claim such an affinity with?  Why haven't they used their superstardom as a platform to draw attention to this cause?

Why is that?

They get so caught up in the game that they don't remember what they were espousing only a few years before... or a few minutes before. They'll say what it takes because they mean it, albeit half-heartedly, and because it sells records to the African-American demographic. They use their ethnicity as a springboard for record sales and price bid-outs. Then, when they're famous, they live the high-life and design clothes (read P.Diddy etc.) make movies, act, do whatever else they want, and conveniently forget about what they were talking about a few years before because "It doesn't matter any more" to them.

To a degree, all artists have this type of reaction in some form or another, so it's not just Nelly, Usher, and Fifty that do it, but your point is well taken.

Why is it that many American Jews who call themselves Zionists are sitting in their homes in the States right this moment watching the news about Israel on CNN?

Why ask why?

Becuase I find it hypocritical.  They rant and rave about being 'of african descent' but fail to utilize their notoriety to do anything to assist their motherland.  They bitch about Live8 being 'too white' but I don't see any of them standing on a soapbox telling african americans to help out and stop poverty in the country they claim they descended from.

I'm talking more about people failing to utilize their fame as a platform for reform, mano.

That's pretty much it.  They're all about the 'hood' when it suits them.

While I think most american jews support the continued existance of the State of Israel, I also think most of them have no desire to live there.

And they shouldn't. All I am saying is that they 'claim' to be Zionists...but when push comes to shove, they are Americans . Nothing wrong with that at all. Nothing wrong with African Americans being Americans first either. Most of them probably don't even know the actual country of their ancestors. Africa is a big continent.

There are many in the world that would love to see certain things happen but aren't willing to shed their own blood or risk any harm to their families to achieve it.

Add ...."Aren't willing to spend their own time or money to achieve it...."

They could argue that they see it as hypocritical for them to raise money for a country they've never seen before when there is so much that needs to be done back home.
But then again they dont do shit about black people living in the streets in America do they?
