If you haven't gotten it already, definitely try out Microsoft's AntiSpyware program.  It's free and can definitely keep your system clean of the malicious junk that can get installed on systems.

Tried it. Liked it. Updated it.
Haven't tried the auto scan setting on this one yet.
I had to kill the 1st after it ran for over an hour.

I love it as well. I work at a tech bench on Cape Cod, and I prefer the beta over any other anti-ware programs such as Ad-Aware or Spybot SnD. I've been using it since I first heard of it on Slashdot, at this link:

I noticed PC Answers rated it as the best available...

Works awesome. I read a review that compared AdAware, Spybot Search & Destroy, and MS AntiSpyware. AntiSpyware won. It runs all the time and prevents spyware from installing and it works. I used to have frequent spyware installs on my computer before using this program, now I virtually never do. Quite a good thing

MS Antispyware is my second line of defense ( subscribed Pest Patrol is first ) still have and use AdAware and Spybot
as third and forth checks.

Bichur, what size is your hard drive and how full. For me a full system scan takes about 25 min, 40 GB hard drive 56% space used.
Auto scan works not to bad, if scans while you are using computer you will notice some lag, at least I do, 2.4 GIG Celeron, 1 GIG ram.

I have something interesting to add:

No doubt MS Anti-spyware is great but why is it Ad-Aware picks up stuff that MS misses?

Conspiracy maybe?

I have been using this since it was first made available for download. I like it - and use it in place of other spyware removal programs. Simply because of the fact Microsoft's ex-GIANT Antispyware program manages running processes better and helps better identify spyware on the PC. Gets a 10/10 from me !

120 gig - 107 +/= for C drive / 2.60 ghz / 512 mb ram. Manually, a full scan takes apprx 30 min.
I think autoscan just got stuck the time I tried it = but it's all cool, I just run it when I'm ready.

At first, I'd have a problem with the results window hanging, but now,no glitches! Can't say I really need it, though, as I haven't had a single piece of spyware in months. Firefox rox, but I can't say I had any problems with IE.

I use Sunbelt's Counterspy and it catches more stuff than Microsoft's and Adaware's versions. Also Microsoft's antispyware insterface looks very much alike to Counterspy's when running the scans.

Hmm... I thought that MS AS looked like GIANT AS

Using Trend Micro Anti-Spyware here and finding that it works quite well. I've used the Microsoft beta and had decent results. We'll wait until it's out of beta to try it again.

It does - because Microsoft bought the Anti-spyware program from Giant.

Works Great!!!!

My first thought:
Now that I have 3 anti spyware tools.
How much spyware is in the anti spyware tools?
Is there a program that can remove it?

My second thought:
Pretty soon the only thing we will use our computers for,

is detecting viruses, worms, and spyware.

Not...

Prove me wrong then Dark Star. From what I've read and from personal experience Linux is immune to common Windows Viruses and all Spyware..

Of course if I'm wrong I'll glady admit to it.

Linux is productivity and game-free computing.

The rest of us grew up from command-line and 1970's unix-based computing a long time ago. You might want to join us. The water's fine.
