Metaverse

For some reason the metaverse will not accept the score from my latest game. There is no error message or anything, the score just does not appear. Is this anything to do with me using a different computer or just a bug?

How long does it take for the Metaverse to update itself? I had submitted a score but never saw it show up.

Have you registered your PlayerName with your GalCiv.com account? If not, your scores will not show up on the metaverse.

Upon submitting your scores, your score is saved regardless if you registered the player or not. So as soon as your register your scores will show up if they are there. (Register: http://www.galciv.com/playerreg.asp)

Also, if you do not have DGM 0.66a (0.66.74 build) then its possible your scores will not get submitted because registry changes where made in 0.66a which are necessary for your scores to be submitted.

The metaverse is currently real-time.

T-Man,
I am registered and it has successfully saved a score before (from another computer). I do have the latest DGM build and will try to register the same score again later (from a save just before the end). i know you stated this before, but what is the scoring mechanism. I like occasionally playing small galaxiues on easy levels (my currently registered score) when I have just an hour to kill or so. Will this totally ruin any chance I have or having a high score?

I see a game submitted by Sloitair with a null serial number...so for some reason it's not finding the necessary information in the regestry. We'll look in it.

Also, anybody who has saved games (with metaverse crashes) can send them to [email protected]. I'll make sure the coding kiddies get all these problems fixed in a jiff! ;)

Lynch, I am also having the same problem with the game on my computer at home. This may be a good thing though, I could bring my computer into work and from there we can figure out the problem.

true, 'cause I'm not sending you mine. :)

If it's any help, I'm running WinXP with the ISA Server Firewall Client. My computer is behind a Windows 2000 Server running ISA.

Solitair,

Can you export your registry key for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Drengin.net and send it to both me and BoogieBac ([email protected] and [email protected]).

BTW, I will work on correcting your current submission so it shows in the metaverse (tomorrow). Its a real good score!

Oh as far as the scoring mechanism. Within the game itself...Don't know the answer to that one. You will need to consult Frogboy on that one. But I do believe that you get higher scores for playing larger and more difficult games.

As far as the score on the metaverse, its a calculated average of your scores. I can't give out the formula at this time. Will need to get permission first.

I am going to be insufferably pleased with myself dor the next 24 hours. I am in the top 10, my submissions showed up the day after I registered. Looking forward to the next build so I can stop finding bugs and complete some games to let me move up.

T-Man,
I think the problem has occurred again. Last night I played a new game got a good score (very similar to my last score) and submitted it. Still no sign of the score on the Metaverse.
I had deleted all the old files Cari mentioned, so I assume the same registration problem is occurring. Also, I found it a bit strange that my new score was so similar to my old score. I was playing on the same settings so maybe that's not too surprising as I won by the same method.
