Theme Manager 2005 released

Lots of usability improvements, tighter integration with programs

http://www.thememanager.net

Stardock has released Theme Manager 2005.  Theme Manager is a free program that takes your various Windows customization programs and integrates them together into a single user interface.  From Theme Manager, users can change their themes, skins, visual styles, wallpapers, screen savers, and much more.  It works with other programs to allow users to control their desktop's look and feel from its interface. If the user doesn't have a needed program, Theme Manager will offer to download and install it for them.

Users can also save their desktops. Once they've got their perfect desktop, they can go to file->save desktop and it will create a .suite file which can be kept locally or shared with others.  The .suite file contains the various visual styles, skins, wallpapers, themes, etc. in it.  Theme Manager is one of the programs that makes up Stardock's Object Desktop suite of desktop enhancement programs.

If you have SkinStudio and WindowBlinds installed, you can apply msstyles without hacking any of your system DLLs!

Create your own suites to share with others (don't upload them unless you have rights to the content, however)

Theme Manager 2005

Make up your minds! Clicking on the Theme Manager 2005 link at Stardock, takes me to a file called thememanager2004.exe and clicking on the Get Now button takes me to C-Net and Theme Manager 2.2.

What ar eyou talking about? Where does it say thememanager2004.exe?

How CNET names it is not totally within our control.

Brad I've just noticed that too.
If you go to the Stardock's Products page https://www.stardock.com/products/thememanager/downloads.asp and click on the ThemeManager 2005 link, it downloads the 2004 version, and if you click on the Get It Now button, it takes you to the CNET site to download version 2.2
Maybe it was named wrong. It works good regardless.

Does not "Save Desktop" correctly. Crashes when loading about 50% of the themes.

The whole idea was very exciting when I first read it, but as soon as I installed it I had trouble. Now I'm no computer expert, I'm old and plodding alone in my own way, but this thing drove me nuts. Sometimes it would work, other times it would just stop working. My CursorXP just didn't like it, I think the feeling was mutual as it never showed the themes. I confess I use another Boot program, something I'd paid for before I discovered Wincustomize, and I'm one of the oldies that likes to add music bits to my computer tasks and that was not included in this software. (I know, I know, that's not part of Wincustomize). But that meant I still had to go to other places to complete my desktop apperance. So I decided to un-install. What a mess!!!!! It took it badly, not being wanted that is. I spent ages putting things back to rights. A nice idea, but I think I'll stay as I was

Yrgal, how exactly do you mean it doesnt save your desktop correctly? What was crashing when you were applying 50% of the themes? Which themes did you have problems with?

Black Xero, does it crash as soon as you click on the WB section or when previewing or applying a wb skin?
