Makena Technologies Acquires There from Forterra Systems

The user content creation MMORPG There has changed hands from Forterra Systems into the hands of long-time investors, Michael Wilson and Steve Victorino and Makena Technologies. Financial terms to the deal were not disclosed but Wilson and Victorino have already decided that the game needs new engineering and customer support staff.

"The internet will continue to morph into a more interactive, multi-media experience," said Michael Wilson, CEO of Makena Technologies. "There's platform is well suited for this transition because of its deep and sustained interactive experience. We are excited to combine the There platform with our vision for online interaction at such an exciting time in the Internet's development."

The core of There is the in-game world economy, with currency called i>There bucks, that has a stable exchange rate to U.S. dollars. Players are able to create, buy and sell all kinds of virtual goods with their money thus sustaining an entire economy. Annual subscription is only $5 and the new direction that Makena Technologies is taking will hopefully take the game back into the profitable area. Press Release
