We had our taxes done last night. OUCH, so today we had to pay in $2300 in taxes.
That amount of money is nothing to sneeze at.

So now we will have to wait on buying a dining room table for the new house. It also means that we won't get to have a 4-d ultrasound to see the baby.

At least there are worse things, and we are lucky we could find a way to pay it.

But man, thats a lot of money. :(

Look at it this way, you got to keep and use that money during the year. I've never understood the idea of wanting a big "refund". Isn't that just the government paying the no interest loan they took from you throughout the year? If you waited a whole year to repay money you owed the goverment, would they simply thank you for the exact amount you kept? Not hardly!!! ;~D

I know $2300 is a lot of money to have to pay, personally, I shoot for a bottom line of $0.00 on my tax forms. I didn't give them a no interest loan, and the government isn't getting anymore! ;~D

It just is a lot to pay at once. We changed our W4's so hopefully we hit a 0 next year. ( or a refund)

Actually next year you will have the baby girl as a dependent, probably the child tax credit on top of that and the mortgage interest. You should probably take a look at things at the end of the year and see where you are at. We have a table you could use in the meantime if you want. And I don't mean the dining room table

I do the max withholding during the year. I know it's a no-interest loan to the govt, but honestly I would rather get that money back at the end of the year instead of having to pay it back to them. This prevents financial problems around this time of the year, plus you get used to having that much less in each paycheck so you budget accordingly.

Greywar~We really didn't have anything we could itemize. I didn't keep any reciepts for donations or anything. The only thing we could deduct is my husbands educator expenses and our student loan interest.
