I was setting a rat trap earlier and it snapped shut on my thumb!  OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!

I now have a purple, swollen thumb that hurts like a SOB.

Can you break your thumb on a rat trap?

Yes, although you usually don't. MAJOR ouchie. I HATE rat traps. (poision's easier but makes you paranoid.)

Army medicine (without the frickin' two hour wait at the clinic), would = don't do that, take motrin, ice. (and I wouldn't hesitate to get it x-rayed if the swelling doesn't go down)

Sorry to hear about it, sounds like the last week or two have been really painful, medically.

Take SPC's advice. But do get it checked out.  There might be some ligament damage even if it is not broken.

I have an appointment with my doc on Friday, Ill have him check it out then.

It's not as swollen, and I can move it better today....but it still hurts!

Your guitar playing is being seriously interferred with. How did you get along with the guitar playing. Oh, yeah if you're wondering, I'm baaaack...ha! On Thursday, gig night, I sliced a horizontal gash with the breadknife in the last digit of my ring finger. Daniel jumped to my aid as I stood there with thee olde finger all squeezed tight, he administered the neccessary medical aid. The next morning I opened up to see if it was alright, it was beautiful sealed and healed up enough to let me play the Thursday, looking at it now, it did not even develop infection. Hope your thumb heals up real fast. Love Aeryck.
