Been a while...random excuses and thoughts

about time.

I don't really know why I haven't written in a while, it's not like I didn't have the time or inclination...or the lack of anything to say. Basically it just didn't happen. Strange how time seems to move by and suddenly you realise more of it has passed than you thought, strange and even a little scary. Everyone knows the line 'time flys while having fun', but I think the older I get the more I see that inevitably time just flys, whether fun and laughter surrounds you or just the hectic pace of life, love, and holidays.

Anyway back to reality. Work is still basically the same, in that I mean that nothing has changed. We are looking into getting the computer system up to date so I suppose that is a step in the right direction, oh and I suppose I am in the process of ordering the latest addition of sage so we are moving to a state of change...though slowly. My boss, let's call him Fred, is a nice guy. His hearts in the right place when it comes to helping out the kids but when it comes to organisational management he has basically no idea. He tries to sound like he knows what he's doing (FYI this is a guy who didn't know how to restart his computer...seriously just restart it...let alone anything else. All his files are saved on the desktop...again no idea how to use files...just a couple of examples.) Anyway, as usual I got sidetracked, where was I? Oh yes, he came up to me the other day and spent 10mins telling me how to write a letter, I mean seriously he stood there telling me how to WRITE A FREAKN LETTER, not the content (no that came later) but how to actually lay the letter out. We also have meetings every week for the team (so we all supposedly know what is going on) however these (what should be) quick team meetings ALWAYS drag on to at least 2 hours. it's ridiculous! We are a small organisation who deal with the voluntary sector the way 'Fred' carries on you'd think we were in charge of a mulit-national, mulit-million pound company!!

He also doesn't like to be in the wrong, or made to look like he's in the wrong, (which is fine if he didn't F**K up all the time) If you pick him up on something (no matter how small) he gets shitty and stays in a mood for a good couple of days. We were finalising an end of year invoice when I noticed that he had made a couple of wrong calculations so I checked with him before sending it on to the council, and he said make the corrections but was then in a crabby mood till about yesterday! Okay this wasn't the only thing that set him, we had a 'small' meeting (note the sarcasm) about the transfer of messages within the office. We already have messages boxes located in my office which when people arrive they are supposed to check for any messages and then throughout the day we basically just hand any messages onto each other. The meeting was held to suggest new ways of getting messages to people ( I suggested instant message pop ups on our computers, but this was to complicated for everyone to handle) it was then suggested to have 'in-trays' on everyones desks in which messages would be placed all the time and throughout the day. Fine this sounds like a fine idea, but take into account that I get into the office first and it would be my job to distribute the messages...the real reason they wanted this done was because none of them can truly be bothered to check their message boxes. It seems strange I know to get worked up on this, but try and understand at my work there is a real lack of effort and everyone is always to lazy to follow things through, also no one is willing to learn anything to help themselves!

I don't mind if someone doesn't know how to do something, what annoys me is that when they complain and I take time out of my work to explain how to do it and then they don't even bother to listen or learn it becomes really annoying!

Anyway let's get off work...enough on that. We've been on a couple trips since I last wrote, Czech Republic and London, also we're heading Italy in couple of weeks. I am loving being in the UK and the chance to see Europe is fantastic! I just wish I had a million dollars so I didn't have to work all the time to pay for the trips...

Anyway I'll try and write again soon. I think I've poured out enough for now

Bye

:-)
I've just re-read this and it barely makes sense, (I guess my writing skills have started to fade considering it's been so long since I've used them) anyway it's as usual more of a rant than anything else so I suppose as thought trains go it sort of makes sense...oh god I can't stop!
