Renaming ships, starbases, etc -- HOW?

I've been playing GalCiv since last summer when I bought the Stategy First store version, then got into Drengin.net, etc. so I am playing the fully updated version now. But I still think of myself as a "Newbie"; I don't have time to play too often. So, I'm looking for helpful instructions about renaming the ships I control, getting beyond the pre-assigned numbers. Can some give me a step-by-step process? Also, I believe I read in one thread -- while looking for advise -- that CariElf said it is possible to rename adversary starbases to help identify their resources for possible trading/buying of starbases. Again, a step-by-step process would help. I can't find a way while playing the game. Finally, I notice on the Metaverse listings, some players have their "player name" for the listing. My listing shows my real name but I'd like to change that to my player name. Any way to do that? Real name and "Nick" = Vincent Dufresne; "Player Name" = One-Eye (from an old high school injury and nick name earned then. Any help is appreciated. To the developers and crew that keeps the game going -- thanks for a few hours of enjoyment and relaxation from time to time!!!

I don't know about the starbases, I never rename them. But to change your nickname, go to http://www.wincustomize.com and there, log in as you do here, and you can change your nickname, just follow the instructions under edit account.

From the main screen, click on the ship/starbase you want to name. Its info will appear at the bottom of the screen. Click on the name and a popup appears where you can change the name.

Rally points work well for marking the location of enemy (I mean alien) starbases.
