Customizing Themes

Changing Titles and Setting Links

Apologize for not understanding any of this, but am new and having problems. Love some of the themes I have seen and try to use them but continue to have problems. Will deal with one example and maybe can get through others if I can understand this one. Downloaded the Suite Paradax 1 as I liked the sub menus where I could customize my own shortcuts and have both a very nice looking desktop and also one very easy to get to all my programs. Finally figure out how to change all the titles and links in the various menus, then added all of Tiggz GT3 widgets and objects and ended up with a desktop that I really liked, but every time the computer had to be reset, which Stardock itself requires with all their updates, I would lose all the changes I had made and have to redo everything. Time is short for me right now and I just couldn't keep redoing it each time. Then I tried a couple of others by GEF, but with those I could never figure out how to change the titles and links and I don't have the same programs or web links as he has so those became useless, so I tried to go back to the Paradax 1 suite and reinstall it, but now I cannot even get any of the titles or links redone. I thought it was a right click on the link which would open up a properties window with states and shortcuts in it to make the changes. Any help would be appreciated, this stuff is over my head. Thanks! John Chapman

Ask the authors of the stuff you are having problems with in person. I am sure they will help you.

Did you find a solution yet? I'm having the same trouble. Does it say anywhere on this site, how to change preset titles and links on things people have created. I guess they must use a program of some sort, but where and what is it?!
Good luck to us!

Yes I did. Gef (Geoff) has been wonderful about walking me through stuff. If you are using the new Desktop X3.0, you must first load Desktop X and go to the welcome screen. This then opens the customizing screen which allows you to go in and customize things. Right click any item and bring up the properties, be it a link or a preset title. In the properties you can go in and change the preset titles, change links, change the type of object from a shortcut, to a URL or whatever you need it to be. Once you get in here the adjustments are quite easy. Gef is obviously expert and seemed more then willing to help if you just write and ask him. I am limited but was able to get in and make all the changes I wanted and would be more than willing to share what little I know. My email is [email protected] if you write me I will help any that I can. - John
