Cheating computer?

Hmm...ok is the computer cheating here? I was trying to evacuate a planet with a transport and there was an enemy ship in the area. So I moved the transport six spaces away from the enemy ship. When I clicked on the enemy ship it said moves 0/5, so he can only move a max of five spaces right? Then when I ended my turn that ship flew in and killed my transport when he should have been out of range...right?

They can attack when their movement points would leave them in the space adjacent to your ship. You can do it, too, by autopiloting onto the enemy ship.

Computers always cheat. In just about every game the computer will cheat. There is bound to be some other thing on Gal Civs that the computer will cheat at. >:(

Autopilot also works the same way with freighters establishing a trade route, transports invading a system, ships moving into orbit, colony ships colonizing a planet, terror stars blowing up a system, and constructore upgrading a starbase.

NOD, if you've noticed a specific instance of the computer "cheating" (not counting the bonuses it gets on the two highest difficulty levels) you should probably bring it up in the bug reports thread.

This http://www.galciv.com/browser/msgboard.asp?id=138505&BoardID=GF is currently the place to anything that definately looks like the game is misbehaving (for instance, in versions prior to the latest one, the computer players could build anything you put in your governor's build queue whether or not they had the technology for it). If the "cheating" is more along the lines of "How can they possibly produce ships so fast?" it might be a better idea to make a post here or on the strategies forum: http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GS , as they might be using some strategy or technique that you weren't aware of.

Hey, I remember you get a free preview of one of the parsecs in 0,0 (I don't remember which sector it is, exactly, but it's been reported and I've seen it myself), so the computer isn't the ONLY one that gets an advantage at the beginning of the game! ;)

Oh, and you can fleet your ships; they can't. If you were in the AI's shoes, I'd bet YOU'D call that cheating... ;)

Bill

Besides, YOU get to cheat by changing a culture victory to a military one just by conquering the last planet after culture bombing (or, even more of a cheat, to trun off culture victory entirely and win a military victory by culture bomb.)
