Trade Goods and Wonders

When it says that trade goods and wonders can only be for one race, is that for the entire game?
What i mean is that say a race develops a TG, then i destroy their entire race, can someone else now research it?
What if a galactic wonder get destroyed? Can another now be built.

Also, say a minor get diplo translators before me, i obviously want it and don't want anyone else to trade for it. If i can't afford to trade for it, can i invade and just take it? If i do, will i be able to trade it?

Always worked for me. I didn't see any references in the "New in 1.19" thread so it should still be OK.

Are you sure it worked? I was under the impression (and, indeed, I actually read in the manual) that it doesn't work like that. If the planet where the trade good was built changes hands no one can trade for it anymore, and anyone who doesn't have the benifits can't get them.

so if i invade a race with a trade good and kill them off am i assured of at least getting the tradegood benefits?
How does that work anyway with the techs, do i get all of the techs that a race has that i don't have when i invade? Or at least invade their last system?

In your dreams son. You might sometimes get 1 (one) tech when you invade.

In my experience what has been built cannot be built again, even if the race that made it in the first place is destroyed. That "knowledge" is lost for eveyone.

But I wonder: has anyone checked if wedo keep the benefits (for say, diplo translators) when wetraded for it, and then , the AI that built it is destroyed (eliminated from the game)? Do we keep the benefits or lose it?

And in AP beta, the minors no long build wonders (and maybe trade goods, I need to check). In my 1.19 game, all minors were wiped out in the early game. Has anyone noticed if they still build trade goods/wonders now?

No. You can not get the trade good's benefits by invasion.

Will you be able to make the minor civs able to build trade goods and wonders through the custermisable options I am told exist in AP. Also, can they build galactic achievements such as capitals in AP.

I know when the Drengin built the Eyes of the Universe, and I captured the planet that had it, all my ships could suddenly see farther. Never tried destroying it though.

Really? I'm sure I've seen someone on the forum complaining that they didn't get the benefit of Eyes of the Universe when they captured the planet it was on. What version was this on?

Tis true, last night I captured the planet that had the Frictionless whatevers.
It appeared in my improvement list for that planet, but it did not appear on any diplomatic screen, so either the minor I stomped had already traded it with everyone (unlikely), or a captured trade good can't be traded (probable but a pain).

n.b. this was ver1.13

Wonders and trade goods affect the empire's abilities as well as the plaents abilities on which they are built. Wonders and trade goods can never be built again. It's been my experience (and I remeber reading this in another thread but I can't find it) that if the planet is invaded that build the wonders or trade goods only that planet retains the benifits.

I suppose you only capture the license. ;)

Odd, I would have thought that when I captured the planet, the factory would be included.
But I suppose some of the highly trained staff at the factory may have got slightly damaged during the planets assimilation. (:(

Don't forget that when you invade, you wipe out the ENTIRE taxpaying population of the planet....I suppose that probably included everyone who knew how to make those frictionless clothes ;)

I wish i could capture some percentage of the invaded people and convert them to be citizens or slaves for me, as i am always in need of people/marines.

I guess the aliens that were lucky died in the invasion... ;)

I always thought that was a little odd. A while back I attacked a system with 3 planets each with about 30 billon population, I needed about 30 combat transports to get through, so there must have been about 250,000,000,000 casualties.

"We take you now to the newly captured planet of Flibertywidgit."

"Thank you Janet, I'm standing here in the once proud Torian capital, and all around me are the signs of war, regrettably there are so many bodies, Green, Pink, Black and all bloody and broken.
The shear mass of corpses could constitute a geological layer, and also it is beginning to smell a bit, back to you Janet in the studio."

Hehehe

Not exactly thought out is it, assuming that the entire population would rather take up arms and be slaughtered rather than try and rebel later on?

The factory is included. But as you discovered... the workers and the distribution system get trashed.

... While it is possible to replace the workers (with space marines to start) the length and visousness of the battle grind the distribution infrastructure in to atoms. Hence, only the planet with the factory get the bonus.

I believe that fragment of text was found at a battle site on the planet Hector.

So if you conquer a Yor planet, why don't you get a manufacturing bonus with all that scrap metal you've got available to recycle? ;D

I do wonder sometimes how the Yor actually USE those Aphrodisiacs that I sell them... :SURPRISED:

I haven't ever tried this, but I wonder how well it would work - if you can't afford to trade for stuff, offer to pay lots of money over time to the minor, get whatever it is you are trading for and then invade and wipe them out so you don't have to pay for it anymore.

I think you keep paying, even after they're gone. Sort of a tribute, to their memory ;)

From what I understand Stardock decided to force you to pay everything off even after a race is dead specifically to prevent a player from doing this.

I am not sure about version 1.2 yet, but I know for a fact that your debt is erased in version 1.13 if your debtor disappear.
