I'm a Contradiction

Put on a happy face
Say it'll all be okay
But is it real?
Or am I just pretendin' my way?
I'm usually strong
Maybe it's true
I'm just glad people can't see right through
Right now
I'm falling
Hard and fast
I'm wonderin' just how long I'll last

I'm right
But often times I'm wrong
I'm a walking oxy-moron
Strong and weak
Bright and outgoing
Down and bleak
Craving stability
Just trying to be me
But that's hard to do
When I haven't the slightest clue
Of who I'm supposed to be
Rebellious one minute
Compliant the next
Tryin' to find myself
Why do I have to be so complex?
Sweet and caring
Loving life and daring
All at once
Cowardly

Hiding behind the mask
Tryin' to make the day last
Because tomorrow won't be better
Locked in this fetter
A mode I won't break
For fear that I'll wake
Dead
Waking up dead, yet so alive
Is the worst feeling ever
When I just want to survive

My contradictory self
Will still try and make it
Because I've been happy before
And the thought that I could
Once again feel good
Keeps me holdin' on
Keeps me peering through darkness
To find the light I can't see
In this mess
I'll crawl with each knee
One step forward
To find who I'm supposed to be
This person I'm looking for
This one day found, me

I think it's because poetry is so personal, that it's hard to figure out a good response. Just know that people read it!

the above comment was, in fact, made by me, I was under my weirdo friends name.  Sorry.
