GMail Drive

Something pretty darn cool..

Those GMail accounts have a lot of disk space available to them eh?

Well here's a program that lets you turn your Gmail account into a virtual drive that shows up in My Computer. It's pretty darn cool. Using it right now. !FROGCARE!

Yup, GmailFS came out last year, i've used it off and on since around July 2004. However be advised, Google tends to "Break" it often, I don't think they like it.

Not too mention a few more letters in the alphabet for your drive letters

LOL
I am sure Google doesn't like this, but they might see it as a way to have a subscription service.
25GB for 10 bucks. email whatever and share RSS feeds of what you upload to friends and co-wrokers.

Ok... This is all well and good... But I can't figure out how to GET Gmail! All I can get is... Beta testing, and GRRRRR

For a gmail account, you have to register with google to receive one, and when they are ready... they will send you a link, which you can use to set it up. At least, that is how it worked for me, and until it comes out of beta.

To get a Gmail account, all you need to do is find a "buddy" with an invite and have them send you an invite. That's how I got mine. And from what I hear, they upped the invites to 50 per user so I'm sure there are plenty out there.

BTW, I don't have any left.

Kewl! Free space, that's always good!

If anyone's interested, I still have all 50 invites left.....emil me at [email protected] and I'll be more than happy to send you an invite!

Argh!! The company is blocking access to gmail via websense.
Curse you WebSense!

obligatory "welcome to last year...." post.

also, i'm pretty sure you're still limited to the same file size restrictions as attachments. i think it's 10 MB. shouldn't be a problem 99.99% of the time, though.

as for invites, I have a few, so if anyone needs one, they can email me at:

[email protected]

I would be happy to send.

Thanks for the info, Brad

Wow! No more worry about only having 20 gigs!

1) You can only use one account per drive
2) You can have larger files. It splits them up for you when it uploads.
3) If anyone still needs an invite, e-mail dest581 (@gmail.com) subject: "Gmail Invite" (without the quotes).

When the link is broken by gmail, does that mean that the files stored in gmail drive are lost until we can find an update to the program mentioned or we can still access the files from gmail account?
