     Some time ago (might have been years to be honest) I stumbled across this experiment conducted by George Goble of Purdue University. This is the sort of thing that I would love to try but my sense of self-preservation along with a heavy dose of laziness keeps  me from doing. Maybe my aluminum smelting buddy SPC NBS will try it?

This is better than anything I have ever done in Chemistry. Although there was the one time I took out a ceiling tile. I was doing an "experiment" where I would put about 35mL of isopropyl alcohol in a large water bottle (like from a watercooler), and swirl it around so it would coat the sides and begin to vaporize. Then I would ignite the vapours with a candle on the end of a metre stick. For some reason, the concussive force of the escaping gases was extrodinarily powerful that time, and knocked the ceiling tile down, on top of a few beakers. To compund things, I was on crutches from a prior foot injury at the time.

I still love burning things, though
