Dog Attacks;

again and again

I live Portland, ore in the last 3 days there have been 2 dog attacks, in one of these attacks 2 pit bulls mauled a horse so bad that it had to be put down. And in the other attack again 2 pit bulls attacked a little Pomeranian throwing it up in the air like a rag doll. Around 6 months ago a 7 year old boy was attack again by 2 pit bulls and was being maulled when some strange lady off the streets came pulled the dogs of this young child, she did of course sustain some very serious injurys herself.

I have watched the news coverage on these attacks and the interviews, a lot of these people are saying that it is the way these dogs are raised, I am sorry but these dogs are bread to be attack dogs and only attack dogs I don't care how much home life and petting they recieve as young pups it is in there blood to attack and thats it

I don't understand why you would want an attack dog in your house with young kids, oh I know what it is you want to hip on your block to own a pit bull and scare the hell out of your neibors and kids.

Those poor familys that went through those attacks, the lady that lost her horse of 20 years and the family that watched there little pomeranian being thrown around oh my god the terror they went through and are still going through. Sorry but I am hearing about to many kids and animals being attacked I think they should be outlawed, That is just one persons opinion.

You are just one of the masses who have been brainwashed by the media reports and government frenzy to ban specific breeds. Do you even know what a pit bull looks like? Are you even aware that a pit bull is not even a recognized breed? Pull your head from that cavity below your waist and do some REAL research on animal behaviour and you will find out almost all of what you wrote is incorrect. All dogs are creatures of not only their genetics but their environment, that is tos say that the majority of experts agree that genetics + environment = behaviour/temperment. If one looks below the surface of most dog attacks you will find a reason for the attack. Dogs do not "just snap" they are creatures that respond positively or negatively to certain situations based on how they are treated, socialized, etc. In almost all cases where a dog bites it is either the owner or victim who played the biggest part in the attack. A properly socialized and well trained dog, whether it be a pit bull or a pug, can be a loving gentle family pet. An abused, neglected, poorly socialized dog will be more likely to act in an aggressive mannner. Know your facts otherwise your opinion is not worth the paper upon which it is written.

BEAVERTON -- An eleven-year-old Washington County boy is recovering after getting attacked by a Pit Bull and receiving 200 stitches in his arm. The attack happened Monday at the child's home on Northwest Leahy Drive.

Mitchell Todd says he and his friend were playing with the dog when Mitchell tripped and fell. He says the next thing he knew, the dog was on top of him and had his arm in his mouth. Mitchell says the dog was --quote-- "trying to play tug of war with my arm."

Doctors say Mitchell didn't suffer any nerve or muscle damage. The boy's family says the dog, which is owned by a family friend, is usually friendly. They do NOT plan on pressing charges. Still, the Pit Bull is now at an animal shelter where he will be quarantined for ten days. After that, the owner says he will put the dog to sleep.
