My Girl and Me Pics Included

I know she might be upset that I threw her pic up here but I thought I'd fill a lenghty blogging void with a little shrine to my girl.
This past Monday, as many of you know, marked the great sham of a holiday called Valentine's Day, now I'm not writing this to criticize the great St. Valentine. What I do want to do is use Valentine's Day as an example of how lucky I am. My girl hates V-Day and though I could take it or leave it, we were both surprised by how others took the news that we weren't celebrating it in the traditional obligatory step by step procedure of 1) present flowers, 2) push through line at expensive swanky dinner spot, 3) exchange obligatory gifts, 4) return to home/hotel where (now broke) man climaxes and woman goes to sleep unsatisfied. Well, that last part may have happened.
Now forgive me if you find this insulting to the way you celebrated Valentine's Day, but you wouldn't believe how many were offended by the way we weren't celebrating. It was going beyond comical, many friends and family were downright angry that we weren't following the apparent laws that govern mainstream hetro relationships. As if our rejection of Valentine's Day traditons was like spitting in their faces.
Anyway, this is supposed to be about how happy I am, not about how confused I am by others' reactions to our happiness. The truth is, we don't need a day to remind each other how much we care about the other. We make time for each other when there is no time and that's much more important than a dozen, now dead, roses.
This weekend we embark on a roadtrip to cruise the southern Minnesota country side, unphased that our previous plans to go to San Francisco fell through. Complicating my life has finally made it simpler, or at least, much easier to enjoy.
I'll meet at you at your place tonight girl, I'll be the guy with that crooked smile on his face.
