I found a fun new game online that I downloaded and forked out $20 for. It's called Rocket Mania, found it on the Yahoo games page. I went there looking for a new game to play while I listen to npr.org, because I've been playing Zuma for so long it's finally getting old. That was yesterday evening. I couldn't sleep last night so I got up and played Rocket Mania until Michael staggered out of bed to see me. That softened me up, so I took him back to bed and snuggled with him. I am so easily addicted to games like that though. I played it during my spare time all day today. John suggested this morning that we take Michael out to the park. As attached as I was to the game, I knew better than to let it take over my life. I was in homebody mode, so that made it hard for me to get off my duff and get dressed to go out, but I did. Michael is suffering from a pretty nasty cold, but a bit of fresh air did him some good. So we had fun at the park. And John did his daily run while Michael & I played. John reported that he ran a bit further today than usual. Good for him! I told him that running can get addictive. There I go with that word again. Yeah, I get addicted to things easily. I used to be addicted to running until moving to Colorado where the elevation was too high for my lungs to adapt to. Haven't run much since then.
Anyway, about that game Rocket Mania. When I'm caught up in something like that, or just lounging around in general, I think, "This is great. I just want to do this forever and do nothing else." Then my duties get neglected, and all the while when I'm engaging in the useless behavior, thoughts haunt my head like all the bad things I've done in my life, all the people I've hurt, all the weird things I've said or done. It's surely because I feel guilty for doing something that I know I shouldn't be doing, or that I should be doing something else. Namely, I should have been preparing or at least reading the primary lesson for Sunday. See, it was already Friday and I hadn't even given it a thought yet. Even worse, this Sunday is the first one of the year so we have a new class. That means that if I were a really loving, caring teacher, I would phone the parents of the kids in my class, arrange to meet them briefly at their home and deliver a cupcake, for the purpose of introducing myself to them in their most comfortable place: their home...so I'll be a familiar face to them on Sunday. I kept thinking about doing that, but here it is Sunday 1:30am and I didn't do such a nice thing. But I did finally prepare the lesson before writing this blog. And I cleaned the living room today too. That's a plus.
