Stardock Virtual Desktops 2

Stardock Virtual Desktops 2

FINALLY!

https://www.stardock.com/products/vwm/
At long last the "BandVWM" has gotten its much needed, long overdue overhaul.  For something like 50 years (something like that) we've been telling people that a version 2 is "in the works".  Well, now you will be able to see what we've been working on. This is a complete, 100% rewrite.

Stardock Virtual Desktops enable people to split their single monitor into having  multiple "virtual" desktops.  What's new in version 2 over previous incarnations would be:

  • Each desktop can have its own wallpaper (and it doesn't slow down switching at all - no other program that we know of has managed to be able to have per desktop wallpapers and not slow down the changing, we figured out a way).
  • Per desktop hot key switching.
  • A hot key for toggling through the various virtual desktops
  • It's even faster than the original BandVWM.
  • Can have each desktop only have the tasks that are in that desktop show up on the Start bar.
  • Lots of other little nice tweaks and touches that make it highly useable.

It's only available on Object Desktop. If you already have it, it's a 1.9x beta called BandVWM. Just download it and you can currently use it in your Windows Start bar.  Support for DesktopX, ObjectBar, RightClick, and ControlCenter 2 is forthcoming.

Once again, another ObjectDesktop item that doesn't know about muli-monitor setups.

It's very nice, and I might give up Altdesk for this however before I do stickiness needs to be added. I like my iTunes, the real iTunes, on every desktop I visit.

Don't get me wrong, I really like the update. It's very usable now. I just complain a lot.

Thanks for the update!

The one thing I noticed is that the cutsom desktop wallpapers only work when your icons are showing on the desktop. If you hide them you only get to see the main wallpaper.
But overall it's a great little app!

I can't even figure out where it is or how to use it. Don't know why I payed for all this stuff. Any cool desktop comes out you have to pay for it anyway.

Jack.... right click the taskbar > Toolbars > Stardock Virtual Desktops...... it will now be available in the taskbar. If you're like me, and don't use the Windows taskbar, you're out of luck for now.

Please make an ObjectDock docklet version so I can get rid of my task manager!

Any ability to integrate into RightClick yet? Id love to NOT have to make my Windows Taskbar visible to use SVD...

If they could produce a widget with it there's a new version of Systats that allows you to put widgets on Object Dock and Right-Click already accepts widgets. Kill two birds with one stone.
