videoglitches and chrashes

this is the first game (since the first 282 PC) and also ONLY programm that chrashes every time at random turns when pushed the TURN buttom
Also the monitordisplay gets blurry,with lots of disturbed lines in between etc etc etc after getting to another screen!
The monitor must be putted on adn after that on and the displays turn on to normal.This must be down X times in the game!
The latest directx and videosoftware are already installed!
This is the worst programm ever created for the PC in techicall ways!!!!!!!!Consider that I have played tousends of programms...and never had encountered such a shite problem!
Who inhere is a proffesor in this matter,an can help me out of this? :sniff!: :sniff!: :sniff!:

Calm down,
you obviously have problems and are upset but you need to take a deep breath and give information so that people can help. Telling people who love the game and play it with no problems month after month that it is the worst game ever will not help fix your problems. Try posting your specific problems in a clear and concise manner. I gather you have 2 problems

a) frequent crashes when you hit TURN
b) strange lines across screen

More data is needed on (a). Does it crash EVERY time you hit turn? What sort of crash? A crash to desktop or a hang? What version of the game do you have? German version? If so there are known problems and a number of threads on this forum telling you how to fix them. Look at threads from Senator CariElf titled. Use the search function. If not the German version then provide some mroe details and we'll try to help.

For (b), what type monitor are you using? What resolution does it support. Are these lines always present? I can't quite follow your post, but I gather that turning the monitor off and on again fixes the problem until you change screens? Again try using the search function to locate similar problems.

Again please be civil, post some more details and hopefully your problem will get sorted. A useful source for details on your problem is the debug file in the galciv directory. have a look at this and see if there are any error messages.

Frequent crashes are most often caused by conflicts with the video or sound drivers, or buggy audio codecs.  In your case, it sounds like you're having problems with your video drivers.

Please run dxdiag, run all the tests, and send the report to me at [email protected].  In your e-mail, please also include what kind of monitor you have, and if you have any media player programs other than Windows Media Player installed, such as WinDVD or Winamp3.

If resetting the monitor fixes the problem, that strongly suggests the problem lies in either your video card and drivers (are they up to date and do they work with the version of DirectX you have installed?) or your monitor (trying to use resolutions beyond what it was designed for can permanently damage a CRT monitor).

Its a great game...a very good,maybe the best turnbased spacestrategie game ever created !
U see....I dont even have a score on the metaverse.Have this game for severall weeks and havent played it out yet,cos of this problems.
I just mentioned that the technicall side of this programm is very shite:(
If the game chrashed after push the next turn buttom I get back to the desktop.
And yes...I have the latest update already installed.
Its a German version with an UK or US update/addon(the latest update).BUT....b4 the update...the game has also chrashed x times after the next turn buttom(also here its get back to the desktop).
I hope I can get out of this soon.

I reinstalled DirectX...it works fine.For so far,I Hope.
I dont know how to send emails to you from this forum CariElf.
And even dont know wich in wich direction i must work.
From where comes the mdl. files?
And wich other ones?:)

there are a number of posts on the forum about the german version. Search to find them for more info. Hope Cari's files fixed the problem. Please try not to use the sh... word. While it's unlikely to upset most people, many kids play the game and read the forums. Use the search function to find Cari's email address if you still need it.
