Thread of Hope
What a surprise, a poem!

Darkness.
Ever constricting, ever binding.
Hopelessness, helplessness.
Sadness and sorrow.
All the evils of the world,
A swirling cloud of darkness.
Hovering around the very soul of mankind.
Such depression,
Ever present, ready to pounce and consume.
Pain only the heart can know,
Always there lingering at the edge of being.
The horrors of existence represented by this cloud.
Yet, we go on,
Facing each day,
With all we are.
One thing helps us through.
A thread of hope.
Golden and bright,
Shining through the darkness.
With hands firmly latched,
We are guided through the perils of life.
Slowly and surely,
We escape the darkness that binds us.
Tendrils snag, yet we pull away,
This thread of hope helping us through,
Brightening our lives in the darkest of hours.
Ever constricting, ever binding.
Hopelessness, helplessness.
Sadness and sorrow.
All the evils of the world,
A swirling cloud of darkness.
Hovering around the very soul of mankind.
Such depression,
Ever present, ready to pounce and consume.
Pain only the heart can know,
Always there lingering at the edge of being.
