Essex99 . . . just tried a Huge Maso, don't think I can get anywhere near 60k (its a quater the size of Gigantic) . . . The highest score I've seen for a Huge was by Ray a while ago . . . over 50k! :)

11 because that is the minimun number to get you on the average score list. Go to the metaverse and move the top sliders to average score and small and then try average score and medium and you will likely see what my goal is :)

yeah, im still confused as to how you have large amounts of cash and avoid destroying all the AI's crap. End game, im barely pulling in 500 BCs a turn and i usually spend it buying moral buildings for planets i flip from the AI (they either have everything built, or sac their own planets so i have to rebuild everything). I only build the following on my planets (and in this order):

Soil Enhancement
Habitat Improvement
Entertainment Center
Manufacturing Center
AMPP
Banking Center
Economic Exchange
Multimedia Center/Harmony Generator (depends on where i am in game, and how bad im doin on moral)
Stock Exchange
Stadium
Teleporters
Terraforming

and on planets that i use to build stuff: fusion power plants, before manufacturing centers (due to their quick build time).

Oh, and my tax rate starts at 50%, and drops down to 40% once i start making money at 100% spending.

Well I'm not up to playing gigantic maps yet but what I do seems to result in positive income on maps up to large size.

1)Trade Trade Trade

I never use SB trade enhancements (perhaps I should just haven't tried em because I haven't needed to) but I do everything I can to make sure all trade comes to me by starting wars, buying freighters, whatever it takes.

My own trade routes are almost exclusively to the furthers minor I can find so I don't help any of the majors economies that way

In the game I just finished I had 2k trade at the end with no SB trade enhancements.

2) Resources Resources Resources

Once I get my first area of culture SB's set up which can flip planets I start trading flipped planets to various ais for their techs and their starbases. You can get every resource on the map by doing this and 3 or 5 fully outfitted economy SB's help a lot as do morale SB's.

In fact, in most of my games I was building absolutely no morale improvements on my planet because I didn't really understand how helpful they can be and I didn't want to pay the 2 bc maintenance and I was still able to get positive income.

3) Trade Goods and Wonders

If the game goes well I get all I can which helps but isn't absolutely necessary.

4) Build absolutely no military and give away any ships your Hero finds.

5) On planets you are going to keep scrap all useless improvements.

Thanks Cotal for the walk-through and thanks Essex99 and others for tips. I don't know why I never thought of using flipped planets as trade bait. As the famous American cartoon star, Homer Simpson, says, "Doh!!!" LOL.
