Why Did They Build That?
Got To Go

It is an unfamiliar feeling, being cold that is, but he sat patiently beneath the grey sky and waited. He was waiting for nothing, because nothing or nobody was expected to show up. But he sat. And though the feeling was unfamiliar, it was very comforting.
John liked things to be uncomfortable. "If everything where comfortable all the time, well hell, I wouldn't have half the memories that I do," he mumbled to himself under his breath. He stood up and trotted on.
He walked for some while, not knowing exactly where he was headed, but he believed he was walking north. The sky turned a darker grey and the snow shot in making water run down his cheek. "You know", he thought to himself, "Why'd they have to build that road right there." The snow that had gently gathered on the legs of his pants had now found the warmth of his body and was turning to water. He turned abruptly and headed back to where he had been before.
He drove slowly and stopped into the first bar that he saw. The door popped open and John slid past a couple who stumbled into the cold. He shook off his coat and ordered a drink as he pulled the stool between his legs. She returned with his whiskey and he leaned in and asked her, "You know that road up there," pointing at the wall, "Why do you think they built it?" She semmed tooken back for a moment and replied, "Well I suppose somebody needed to get somewhere."
