Honda is weird!

I have the CB controls...but no CB? What?

A while back...I bought a new motorcycle....a 05 Honda GL1800...AKA: Goldwing.

One of the things I have been planning on doing is getting new helmets and installing a integrated sound system into the helmets. This way, I can hear music...talk to my co-rider (Marcie....JU - marciehelen), and talk on the CB to other bikers / travelers.

I recently found out that I dont have a CB installed in my bike. This threw me off because I thought I had a CB. I have all the controls on the left handlebar (push to talk...channel up / down, squelch...etc)..which would make one assume that one has the CB. Well turns out that I dont. The CB is an after purchase option that one has to get...costing about 800 bucks for the system alone...not to mention it takes about 4 hours for a owner to install (maybe 3 or so for a pro?)

I found this out on a GL1800 riders forum, and one reply to my post mentioned that this makes a nifty marketing scheme. Install the controls...make the owner buy the CB so you can use it.

Well I have been thinking about this...going to try and find a cheap Honda CB system and install it myself..which would require, unfortunately, lots of taking stuff off the bike.

This doesnt really anger me...I just wish I knew about this beforehand when I bought the bike. This jsut means Im out of communication with other riders as I ride. I like to be able to talk to and hear other riders when I ride with a group of them.

Use sign language? Bad honda, they should have told you what they were selling you before you bought it.

Sign language needs two hands. Unless you meant gestures.

Basically, if I'm riding a bicycle, I have a communication disability.
