If you will, say a prayer for my daughter.

If you will, say a prayer for my daughter.

My daughter Holly has been in the hospital since Monday, with pneumonia. Early this morning Mike, her husband called and said she took a turn for the worse, she now has adult resp. distress syndrome. She is on a ventilator, sedated and paralyzed. She is young, only 33, so she has that going for her, and she is healthy otherwise, except for her asthma. Her brother is picking me up and we are going up to Marshfield, where she is...usually takes about 4 hrs. but we had a heavy snowstorm...so it will take longer...

Wishing your daughter a speedy recovery, and you a safe trip there and back again. If there's a 'puter where you are going, it would be nice to know you got there safely. Godspeed.

Thank you all so much for your prayers, I am back home at my Moms. Holly is stable right now. According to what the lung specialist told us, it is now up to her body to heal, and it is a long, slow, day to day process. He said she could be on the ventilator anywhere from a couple weeks to a couple of months, which means that she would be kept sedated and paralyzed until she is off of it and breathing on her own. The nurses and doctors are wonderful and caring and answer any questions or concerns we have. Even though Holly is sedated, everyone talks to her. One of the nurses said, that the ones that recover from ARDS, some remember being talked to, and some don't. I will keep all of you updated on her progress. We have faith that she will totally recover from this illness..we just have to go day by day...

Thanks for the update. I know how hard it is to see someone not breathing on their own (lost my sis to lung cancer last year), and no one ever looks good hooked up to a machine. Stay strong and keep lending her your strength.

Done! We will all believe that she is healed, and you are all safe and well again. Take care of yourself, too: Moms tend to forget they are needed badly and will wear themselves out.

Lots of love,

Hi Teddybear...I can speak for many of the other members here when I wish your daughter a speedy recovery as I am sure she will do. She is surrounded by caring and loving people and that in itself is a potent medicine. We will all continue to pray for her and keep in our thoughts. Soon she will be back to her nornal self that I am confident of. Take care.
