1.03 - save does not load

So I've been playing GalCiv for a few days now, no problems at all. My wife had numerous crashes/lockups immediately after installing, but once she patched to 1.03 they stopped. Played last night, saved game then quit. Try to load my game up this morning...the progress meter comes up, goes to 100%, then everything disappears and I'm at the desktop.

Tried my save and the last autosave, both cause this. Shut down and cold-booted my system, same thing. I tried an old save from two days ago and it works fine, but none of the saves from last night will load. No errors, no messages, just boots me straight to desktop consistently.

WinXP (fully patched), AthlonXP/Barton, GeForce4 Ti4400, Asus A7N8X board, 512 DDR SDRAM.

Any ideas?

It's caused by one or more ships losing their assigned homeworld. It's happened to lots of people with 1.03. The bug is fixed (according to the readme) in 1.04, but for your game all you can do is email the same game files to CariElf at [email protected] and she will hopefully fix it for you and mail them back.

Heh, and she's better than me in most games, too. Higher level in the MMOGs and beats RTSs more often.

Eargh...well, at least there's a solution, however clunky for now. Crossing fingers for 1.04.
