Love Poem of the Day
The Christmas Tree
by UrBaybee
Christmas can be light and joyous
It can also be gray and sad
Remembering those not with us
Times once perfect and times once glad
As a child the season was happy
With toys, presents, and good cheer
Loving wishes from friends and family
Mom and Dad were always here
As an adult I dreaded Christmas
You see, I lost my Mom on this day
Nothing can or will take her place
I died the day she went away
I have a very wonderful Dad
Who I love very much, indeed
He doesn't really care for Christmas
But always fills my very special needs
I've realized there's no Santa or reindeer
Christmas can only be found within me
And as we decorate for the holidays
Precious memories are found on our tree
There's ornaments that were my Mom's
And special ones hung just for my Dad
Earnhardt, Eagles, and baseball ones, too
The tree actually doesn't look that bad
But, before you came for Christmas
The tree's branches were bare and small
Nothing special was hung upon them
There was never a tree at all
So on this very special 2nd Christmas
Let us decorate our tree with our hearts
You've helped bring back my spirit
And that's a very fine place to start
