I'm concerned . . . seems there was only about 50 games sumbitted on the weekend. That doesn't seem like very many . . . I'm not seeing too many new faces on the boards either these days, do you think that the GC retail release has pretty much maxed out? Do you think the general release of the Beta will revive consumer interest in this game?

Not a pleasant topic I know but skirting around the issue isn't going to magically help SD any. :notsure:

I wonder if one day this Metaverse will just disappear without warning? I'm a pessimist generally (ask anyone I know) but can't ignore the decline in Customer Support (I know the beta development takes priority but still) and the decrease in Metaverse activity and submissions.

Mabye it's just the case that not many people like to submit games? Who knows? Nevertheless there are literaly hundereds of inactive empires and individuals registered . . . whats going on?

Um, the thing about LOTR is that its a blokey story. The girlies didn't really get to leave the kitchens. For the movies, the Director wanted to evolve it up to modern sensibilities. You know, women with swords and doing heroic things. I mean to say, in flick one, how gay was the scene with Aragorn at Boromir's death? Promptly followed by Sam desperately wading out to Frodo stating his undying love. It was really right in the book, but seems a bit gay for modern movie audiences. Just imagine public reaction if the movies only featured blokes, with the women serving the occasional eggs and bacon.

My opionion of the LOTR movies rests on a knife edge (kinda like the more recent starwars releases) so I guess I've already decided to see both of the last instalments for each no matter what they serve up. :notsure:

I HATED the Ents in the movie. They were my favorite part of the books--wise and strong and sad--and the movie reduced them to idiot comic relief.

The scene with Aragorn riding off the cliff was not in the books. Nor was Faramir instantly corrupted, nor did the elves go to war, and so on. I don't mind deviations from the source material in principle, but I don't see why these additions (and the concurrent subtraction of Tolkien's stuff) improved the movie.

I found Elrond's dislike of men once of the worst alterations.
Even though both his father and brother were mortal they decided he
should hate them. And Aragorn in the books wanted to be King.

I didn't enjoy II as much as I. LOTR was nice but TT was average. There was a lot of draggy parts (journey to Mordor, journey to Rohan, etc). A possible reason is because I read the series only after I saw LOTR so I knew what to expect and was probably spending too much time looking to see how the movie deviated from the book than really enjoying it. :D

I too spotted all the differences you guys spotted. They also missed going through the "path of death" or something like that. The ghost fleet.

As a RPGer, I found the part where Aragorn and Gimli cut down a horde of orcs at the gates alone ludicrous. The final charge by the survivors out of the gates was ridicious as well (all the orcs on the path went flying).

The last I heard, it already is points/players (or actually sq. rt. of players, same as individual scores wrt. number of games).

I suggest a cease-fire! Between the top two Empires . . . we could all take a holiday . . . relax and watch the other empires catch up! Place bets, argue and do all the things we ussually do. Just not post our games . . .?

The idea I had about a "Hall of Fame" would be good here. When an empire hits 1 million (or 1.5 M), All current members get their name in the HoF anlong with the empire name. The empire would then be disbanded. Start over with a new one.
Alternatively we could trade off some of our players to smaller empires 'tit for tat' to strengthen them? Like they do in football .

Then when the empire is disbanded, there could be draft pics. Order of the pic would be determined by a single game score, or whatever. ;)

He seemed more annoyed and disappointed at their weakness than genuinely hating them to me. At least in the first movie. And I really liked the change. I mean really. When you've gone through what he did, battle battle battle only to see a weak willed human keep the dang thing instead of destroying it, how else could he be?

I'm a new purchaser, from the UK, so its not totally died down. :)

I haven't seen a review in the terrestial PCZone or PCGamer yet (there has been one for Stars IV, around 60%) which would obviously help. If the reviewers were sent the final edition + Expansion by Drengin.net/Frogboy it could interest them in doing so (especially as an 'exclusive' + demo to put on their cover disks)


Just a thought: given the general response to Moo3 (PCGamer, 53% or so) and the desire for 4x games, it could easily boost sales. I only know about this game from the Moo3 forums, and count myself lucky, especially with the modability & support it has recieved from the guys who made it.

In fact, a pitch that pointed this out could lead to articles of the 'finally, a company doing what it should: making games with love' variety that would ++% sales [event: you game is championed against EA and Infogames. Recieve +10% to economy :p]
