I'm concerned . . . seems there was only about 50 games sumbitted on the weekend. That doesn't seem like very many . . . I'm not seeing too many new faces on the boards either these days, do you think that the GC retail release has pretty much maxed out? Do you think the general release of the Beta will revive consumer interest in this game?

Not a pleasant topic I know but skirting around the issue isn't going to magically help SD any. :notsure:

I wonder if one day this Metaverse will just disappear without warning? I'm a pessimist generally (ask anyone I know) but can't ignore the decline in Customer Support (I know the beta development takes priority but still) and the decrease in Metaverse activity and submissions.

Mabye it's just the case that not many people like to submit games? Who knows? Nevertheless there are literaly hundereds of inactive empires and individuals registered . . . whats going on?

To get back to the point.

As a newcomer, it seems to me, that if the Metaverse is dead, then it is down to the Pirates and the Wedding rings.

When I first saw the scores of over one million, I thought "sheeeesh" there is no point in me submitting my puny scores.

It's the same with the individual scores. You need over 60,000 to make page one. This must represent hundreds, possibly thousands of hours game play.
I have better things to do with my life than that.

Then I thought perhaps it would be more fun with a small group and thought about the Illuminati.
Now I see the members are going back to school, so I would be on my own.

I think I will give the Metaverse a miss.

Rainbird, thats why we're all hoping to perswaid (sp?) the higher powers to revame the metaverse a little. More ranks, more medals and more shinny things!

It's important to have achievable goals isn't it otherwise (as you so clearly illustrate) interest and enthusiasm dwindle. (:(

couldn't agree more rainbird - we're seeing the rules of capitalism play out in the meta with the usual convergence into multi-nationals/duopolies blah blah. all i say to you (and all the other unattached) is join a smaller empire in the top ten so that the competition CAN be reestablished. either that or a reset OR a points table done on quality rather than quantity (ie points/number of players)....

I suggest a cease-fire! Between the top two Empires . . . we could all take a holiday :D . . . relax and watch the other empires catch up! Place bets, argue and do all the things we ussually do. Just not post our games . . .?

Alternatively we could trade off some of our players to smaller empires 'tit for tat' to strengthen them? Like they do in football . . . theres a monicum of sanity somewhere in what I've said, I think?

or we could limit the number of players in an empire (to say 20) and then play out the Empire Map via Empire Morality ie Good/Neutral/Evil (or their sub-sections)?

I guess, I go where I am most useful, as I always have done and am compelled to do. It is not a boast but a curse! I swore on my allegence to the fellowship who gave me sanctary in my hour of need. Yet the ghosts of my ancestors call out to me to return . . . only problem with that is, I know for a fact my heritage stems from Poland! It's a puzzlement? LOL

Just between you and me (shhhh) . . . I really didn't like the second LOTR movie (which I saw just for the first time last week). Not that it means anything one way or the other . . . I just needed to tell someone :)

If your talking about Aragorn and Eowyn it's half accurate to the books Eowwn does about Aragorn but not the other way around. But now that Elf army was not in the book. And back to the first movie they horribly Altered Arwen and AElrond.

I've never been able to recall the names, sorry. Thanks for filling in the blanks.

Also I don't remember Aragorn falling of a cliff and nearly getting killed . . . mind you I read these books a good 10 years ago (and I was still pretty poor at English). I wonder when the last movie comes out? Christmas? Anyone know?
