I need to understand this correctly....

So I went out and bought this game very excited! I started playing. I liked it. Infact I liked it lots. Now here is the problem, and why I returned it after 2 days. After spending all the time I did building and honing my skills, I lost the game because of some cultural victory? Now I can understand that some people want to have this as a victory option, but am I to understand you can not shut this option off? If so then I feel justified in returning the game. If not then please someone tell me how to shut off this option so I can play a game of conquest.

You can turn on and off different victory options when you start the game. It was added to 1.02 or something like that months ago.

It's quite easy to turn off, you can turn off any victory condition except military. In the new game menus at one in the bottom corner there will be a list of victory option and you can just unclick what you don't want

Esporam, if you were playing a version prior to 1.02 and you "liked it lots", then you are going to abolutely love all the new stuff that has been added since then. And the free expansion pack due out in September is going to really freak you the heck out!

Here's what you need to do: Go back, get the game again, download the original bonus pack and the latest patch, and then join the Jedi Republic Empire. At least that's what I would do! Take care! :)

Esporam, the expansion pack as well as new versions can be downloaded via stardock central. You should be able to install the installer from your disk if memory serves. running that lil program takes you to sdc and then you can download the updates.... Oh but a word to the wise. If you buy used, the person you are buying from may still be using his cd key. If you can't get him to change it, you'll be out in the cold.
