@ 2juicy:

you first have to create 2 bmps, one with a size of 640*480 pixels and a color depth of 4 bpp (16 colors), the second with a heigth of 9 pixels and same color depth (the width doesn't matter i think...).
now you have to create a file called "bootskin.ini". it's data content has to be the following:

[BootSkin]
Type=0
Name = "Your Skinname"
Author = "The Authors Name"
Description = "A Description of your file"
ProgressBar=YourBar.bmp
ProgressBarX = 100
ProgressBarY = 100
ProgressBarWidth =200
Screen=Background.bmp

"Type" always has to be 0, I don't know why...
the second value is the name of your skin
the third is the name of the Author
the fourth value is the description of your file, if you don't want to use it then enter Description = ""
the next value is the name of the bmp-file of your progress-bar
the next 3 values are the x- and y-position of your progressbar (where it starts) and the length
the last one is the name of your background-picture

now you have to create a zip-file of these three files (the background-picture, the progress bar and the bootskin.ini). this zip-file you have to rename from YourFilename.zip to YourFilename.bootskin. thats all, now you can upload your bootskin

PS: sry, for my bad english, i but i think it's understandable

Has it ever worked, if not Bootskin does not work on all computers due to the BIOS. There are a couple other versions on bootskin home page https://www.stardock.com/products/bootskin/. If none work sadly you will be stuck with default Windows boot.

re #4: The Progress Bar needs to be a maximum of 22x9 pixels and from the same palette as the background. The best way to do that is to make your background, reduce the colours to 4bit(16 colours) then select a 22x9 area from that and use copy/paste as new image.

To save you can, in the Bootskin program, select the skin, then File > Export selected skin to file
