Album: Age Ain't Nothin' But A Number
Year: 1995
R. Kelly cannot get enough of himself and his "talent." It's evident in this single, as he crowds Aaliyah out of the song and takes over. His voice is the first and last one heard on the track. Although Aaliyah sings the verses, it's R. Kelly who has the chorus. Aaliyah is simply relegated to a background singer.
The song is like a rejected version of Montell Jordan's This Is How We Do It with the call out to friends in the inner city. However, with an added mix of R.Kelly's own underage girl fantasies. It is most noticeable in the lyric Aaliyah sings "Tonight is the night/I take you boy/And put you in my good thang/all night." Also, it's too heavily dependent on slang. It becomes cartoonish after the second verse.
