Here's a fun stastic

If you look at the average points scored on the metaverse per battle for each empire in the top 10, here's what you get:

#1 Jedi Republic: 1652
#2 Space Arachnids: 1445
#3 Fellowship of the Ring: 1211

#4 G.R.O.S.S: 1201
#5 Mid-Western Confederation: 1103
#6 ANZAC: 1005
#7 European Alliance: 976
#8 Gamma Squad: 879
#9 Canadian Star Federation: 863
#10 Apolyton: 549

The problem with that analysis is that the scoring is much more generous in 1.05, and some empires have been around since version 1.00 or 1.02. The scores in old versions have been retroactively decreased.

Your statistic measures empire age more than anything else.

Sad but true. The Lords of the Metaverse (Staffa, PBP, Ray the Wanderer et. al.) have some older low-scoring games that drag down their average because of the altered scoring system. The Jedi Republic is a rather young empire in terms of games submitted per player. Actually, this is one of the reasons I joined, to be more on a level with my peers.

Granted, we also don't have the advantage of a couple months of game postings to pull up our point totals, so it will be interesting to see how fast we can climb.

Disclaimer: If you consider yourself a "Lord of the Metaverse" and weren't mentioned above, no offense intended. Just grabbed a couple of examples that leapt to mind.

True enough. I never stated in my original posting that this ranking system proved anything. I just found it interesting. I guess my point is that there is more than one way to look at these things.

How about if I went and redid the calculations, only counting games from 1.05 and later? Would anyone care to see this or would it be a waste of time? ....Okay, it's a waste of time, I know that, but still... anyone curious?

The Spymaster is one of the major time wasters on the Galciv forum, crunching numbers here and there. I would be glad to see your work. Impress me. :)
