I downloaded a transformation pack now everything is messed up

Hi guys,

I just downloaded a transformation pack to transform XP into a OS-X like shell. Now I installed it and well it overwrote a lot of files I didn't know what they were, turns out it over wrote certain named of things and it's really ticking me off. I can't uninstall it cause there was no option to uninstall. System restore won't fix it and I don't know what to do... is there a XP transformation pack to change everything back? I'm desperate!!

THanks guys,

What exactly did you download and where did you download it from?

Nothing you can download here will do anything like you described.  Looks to me like a system hack type of "transformation". Give a link to where you got it from.

It's probably LS

Download and install system hacks and that is what you will get, a unstable, hacked system. The programs here will not do that. Use them and stay away from the rest and you'll be a happy camper.

It might be time for a hard drive wipe and fresh OS install now. And chock it up to a lesson learned. I've been there before myself.

I'm only referring to Object Desktop Programs and a few others(sysmetrix, quick notes, rainlendar). The shell modifiers may cause those sorts of problems too.

The guy who posted the link said he first got it from here (Wincustomize). I reinstalled SP2 and it got rid of the icons and menu changes but the icon names are still different like "My computer" is now "Finder" and "recycling" is "Trash" I don't know how to change that. Any help would be appreciated.

You first clue should have been, 'if it came from here, why didn't the link bring you here?' There is no such thing as "Transformation Packs" here at WC.

Did you read the included README file? Did you read the comments before you installed it? he description says it's only for XP Pro with SP2, are you running Pro or Home? This thing replaces SYSTEM files, never a great idea. You might as well get ready for a format and reinstall  XP, and count this as a lesson learned.

Listen to Koasati and allways keep in mind this:

-NEVER download or install anything before reading the instructions or specifications.

As you can see on that website, all the comments are negative. (that is not a good sign to start with)
I second Koasaty's suggestion. Backup/Save all necesary files or documents. Format and re-install XP and dont ever do this again.

"So once you install it, there is a catch, you can't uninstall it using the program. You have to re-install SP2 and then remove the sound settings and adjust the icon size back to 32x32 (Display Properties > Appearance > Advance > Icon)...

Aside from this, well I've used it for 15 minutes and took 1 hour to uninstall it completely.

But it looks promising!! Really!!! " A format and Reinstall looks promising to me
