Should Auto Survey be turned off ?
My Survey ship keeps finding the Space Shark.
Funny thing is Aliens never seem to trigger the Space Shark.

Its a vital tool for keeping micromanagement down, so no I don't think it should be abolished, but mabey a slider to change its effectivness.

Space shark? What I would like is a self exploring scout ship to uncover the unexplored areas.

My only issue with auto survey is that multiple survey ships can be headed towards the same anomaly. This is particularly annoying on gigantic. I periodically check that my survey ships haven't grouped together, and send them to different sectors if they are. A wormhole will eventually fix the problem by itself.

My first surveyor doesn't autopilot until well into year 2 or even year 3. Early on, I use the survey ship as a scout that goes to star system dots in nearby unexplored sectors, grabbing whatever non-teleporting anomolies that are close by on the way. But that doesn't last long. Soon enough, I have a second colony and it produces a small number of scouts that perform the exploring. Then the survey ship switches gears and deliberately targets a few asteroids and hull fragments to get upgrades and random ships. After that the auto-pilot phase starts, barring any wars that demand some early firepower.
