Request for new sub-category in the ObjectDock Library

Would it be possible to create a separate category for tabbed dock backgrounds? All the other basic elements of OD and OD+ have separate categories. OD+ tabbed backgrounds are built differently then basic backgrounds and don't always work as a basic background (certain tags only work with tabbed docks). I know that there are already 16 categories now, but the "Food Themes" has no entries and could possibly be eliminated to make room. Thanks Stephen

I think that's a good idea, it would make it much easier to discern between backgrounds and tabbed backgrounds without having to go through tons of things.

I stongly support this idea, would make it soooooo much easier to search for tabbed backgrounds.

Okay so there isn't much interest in that idea....how about this one split ObjectDock Icons off into a separate library. DesktopX is split into three libraries and so is Windowblinds, four if you want to count SKS Widgets used in WB making. My reasoning behind this is that the other ObjectDock entries get lost in the upload of icons. It appears to me that sometimes folks are making let's say 10 icons and instead of packaging them together, they're uploading them as individual objects which is flooding the OD category with icon/object submissions and possibly the reason why WC has opted to not show OD additions in the newest additions unless rated over a certain number, I think it's 7, I'm not really sure about that though. Then maybe the other OD entries (non-icon/object ones) can go back to getting posted as other library entries in the Newest Additions.

Just a thought

I completely agree with both suggestions. I'm a big fan of Objectdock and I'm using it instead of my desktopx theme that I made for a taskbar, systray, meters, program launcher replacement. I look at the updates and it seems to just be one icon at a time, which is great but they should be in a seperate category like you say. Anything to clean it up a bit would be good.

As for Object Dock icons, I must say that I like it when they are uploaded seperatly. It makes it much easier to find what you are looking for. Typically, if I need a Photoshop icon (for example), I will type "Photoshop" in the search box.

I really like the idea of having tabbed backgrounds as a separate section, or having the section divided some more. It can be difficult on those days when there are lots of icons be uploaded to notice one of the great tabbed backgrounds.

I vote for a seperate section for tabbed backgrounds.

I agree.

I like the idea of a sub-section for non-icons. It would make it much easier to find stuff.

I agree with paxx re the OD icons being uploaded seperate, it is easier to do a search like that.

A lot of those OD icons look good on icon-x too - my desktop is covered with them

Those are both good points about the single icons, both using with icon-x and making them easier to find Still would like to see the whole library re-organized in some fashion now that OD+ is out. Maybe with the advent of WC2K4

I'd like to see 4 sections.....

1. Original Icons/Pngs
2. Converted Icons/Pngs (stuff people find on the web, and convert, then claim they made it)
3. Backgrounds. (Tabbed, and standard)
4. Docklets.

people really do that

I suspect most if not all of the photo realistic Dock Icons (cell phones for example) are exactly that.

I'm actually working on a suite of icons for OD+ and packager called 'Real' that are all modelled and rendered in 3D by yours truly. I'm going for the most realistic images I can. Check out https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?library=29&SkinID=4836 for an example of how they are going to look (this trash bin isn't my work, but similar to the 3D realism I'm going for)

Ok, I went ahead and added a Tabbed Backgrounds section to the ObjectDock library.  Sometime in the near future I will try and separate the Dock Icons out into it's own library.

Now if one of our trusty moderators will go through the backgrounds and move some of them to the new Tabbed Backgrounds that would be helpful.
