I don't know what changed your Log off, but it wasn't IP....look to make sure you don't have 'Fast User Switch' turned on in User Accounts. The 'Favorites' in IE cannot be changed.

Umm, what does the "Fast User Switch" have to do with the problem? I switch users all the time, and mine still looks like normal...

Come on JD...this isn't rocket science.....IP didn't change it, so I'm groping for anything....you come up with a reason....

Control Panel => User Accounts => Change the way users log off => Make sure Use the Welcome Screen is checked and Fast User Switching checked is optional. Something, some proggie or someone else changed this setting IP has nothing to do with it

You didn't by any chance join a domain? Or install a remote administration tool?

Is your user pic missing from the start panel too?

If the pic is missing and you can't change the fast user switching on the control panel, you might need to right click the start button and Open all Users, then I think this is it, right click on the Programs folder and Properties, then check the Sharing & Customize tabs. It has to do with being set up for a network and security. I had the same problem with XP Pro on my laptop.

After you have unchecked the Sharing button, you should be able to go in and change the fast user switching on the control panel.

And please, all you wonderful, kind helpers here, if some of this is incorrect, please correct my info...my problem was a few months ago, and I just forgot the exact directions on how to get the fast user switching thing working, as I don't switch users! (And I couldn't remember where I found the answer on the net, either....sorry!)

Best wishes to you and blessings too!
