Stardock's forthcoming strategy game, The Political Machine, is previewed at FileFront. The summary of the game is as follows:
The Political Machine from Stardock is a strategy game where you take on the role of campaign manager for a US presidential candidate. Your job is to get your candidate elected to President of the United States.
You choose (or design) your own Presidential and Vice-Presidential candidates and begin in the first week of January of the election year. From there, you must compete against a candidate from the opposite political party in raising money, building support and awareness, and winning voters across the country.
The game's map is based on the real demographics of the United States. Different states have different attitudes on today's issues. As the campaign manager, it is up to you to decide which issues matter based on your political party affiliation and the state your are campaigning in. You must also decide which states you are going to try to contest. Remember, US presidential elections have to do with the electoral college – it’s about winning the states, not the overall popular vote.
While you are focused on winning key states you must ensure your candidate polls well nationally in order to raise money, build campaign headquarters, and take out advertisements.
The game ends with election day with your candidate either becoming the next President of the United States or ending up a footnote in history.
The Political Machine uses actual data to determine the effectiveness of your campaign. The game's website, https://www.politicalmachine.com, is not only a place to download and discuss the game, but is a neutral site for people interested inpolitics to discuss the issues of the day with other players from around the world. Create your own articles, hang out in the forum, and become part of this new political discussion community!
