Oh-thanks Essencay, "respectable". Hehehe, not something I'm called every day!!

Sure, author''s have that right, of course. But MGiff seemed to have fun with her work and a lot of people appreciated her blinds for firefighters, EMS, etc. I''m sorry to see her take her skins down.

Whoo...she''s back! OK, that''s different if you want to start fresh. Just glad that it''s not a complete disappearance altogether.

/me is happy also

My previous post was not aimed at her, just the first 2 sentences.

The rest was for everyone.

No wonder I love this site.......

Hey! How did that happen???!!

Melanie.....this is exactly why I have a low tolerance for dickheads who think they have a right to comment irrespective of whether they actually have a brain or even the slightest inkling of what they are looking at.

What is worse, they will embark on a journey that sees themselves trying to be even more creative with the next 'put down' than they were with the previous....and then enlist a following of  arse-licking yes-men followers to illuminate their genius.

Eventually, through one artifice or another the admins are made aware of the miscreants in our midst and steps are taken.

Step one....respond to obvious problem comments.

Step two...put them on the 'watch list'.

Step three....watch and wait.

Step four...warn.

Step five....silence....via 'Exile' or 'Visitor' status.

Wincustomize.com is a skinning site....for skinners...to display and distribute their skins.

Users of such skins come second.

Commenting on works, as with all interaction with the site is a privilege, NOT a right.

Rights 'may' be inalienable....but privileges can be removed.

Now....I'll post 2 comments in their entirety that caught my eye....and were removed.

These are general examples of considerably more which were much alike, and several were far worse [also removed].

Freaking ugly. What can I say?

In addition, I believe that the skin quality reflects on the creator's appearance in real life. Therefore, I believe that baybboy is a excrement-covered, spotty, diabetic, overweight piece of lard that leaves behind a train of slime when he walks.

embarrassing. Why did you make this skin?

You seem to have made a TON of skins in a few days - they are all REALLY REALLY bad. stop making skins in a day or two by simply taking graphics found on the internet and pasting them together and submitting it as a 'skin.' Seriously, who the f*ck uses this sort of skin? It's bulky and ugly. I don't care if you make bad skins - it is your reputation that suffers, not mine.

Now, these fine gentlemen, along with Sadaam Insane and Osama Bin Laden  have been 'removed' so further comment will not be happening.  It's notable that their UserIDs are from 1.05 mill to 1.13 mill.....making them 'new', as in this year.

See....I personally couldn't give a toss about these 'users' who are not skinners....not when they indulge in personal attack and insult which results in a fellow skinner removing her works.

IT IS THIS WORK'S REMOVAL THAT REFLECTS POORLY ON THE SITE, not the bunch of 'children' whose status is now between 'exile' and 'visitor'.

This sort of crap has no place on Wincustomize.com.....and won't be tolerated.

Sure, constructive criticism is good....even 'this sucks' is legitimate....but personal attack in particular will see you gone and your feet won't touch the floor.

Melanie.... sanity has been restored with certain comments being removed from your works....if you would like them back up again....[the works, not the comments] let me know and I'll fix it...

Well, I was proud of my firefighter/EMS series, Jet Black and the 'Something Different' one. I can re-upload them after a few tweaks and corrections though. Thank you Jafo, I didn't want to be any trouble or troublemaker, really I'm not a whiner.
I do hope that Baybboy didn't leave, I haven't seen him back on, he's progressing so nicely and I love to see the work as he grows.

I would like to say that I echo everything Jafo has said. I feel exactly the same way as he does. ANY skinner can e-mail me ANYTIME if they receive comments that are unjust or plain rude, and I will get straight on it.

my e-mail is [email protected]

MGiff, you took everything down for now? NNNNOOOOooooo!!! Part of me feels that those idiots have won, if that's the result of their petty, nasty comments. But it's your choice, of course, and I look forward to seeing what you come up with in the future. You're a very talented lady!

I also hope babybboy hasn't gone away either. He's shown great improvements in his skinning talents, and I'd hate to see him be driven off by these clowns.

McGiff, I'm pretty sure this was one of yours, and it was one of the first skins I got here that I really enjoyed....bring back BabyBlue Please Somewhere I misplaced it

I really dont want to jump in on this discussion to much as I am extremely new to skinning and have little experience compared to you all but I do have a comment.

Feedback is the only thing that will help me (or anyone) improve. There are many things to learn in order to create "The Very Best" skins. I for one go thru a major learning curve everytime I start a new skin (as little as that is). The idea of getting critiques from pros via email would be very helpful and would improve the quality of skins overall. I'm not talking about direction in creativity, but suggestions that inform a skinner of the things he/she may have overlooked would be great. Margins, font problems, alignments, and wheather to stretch or tile an image might be some of the things that would improve everyones work.

I also appreciate the comments that I have gotten from some of you. Those comments are encouraging and promote new skinners to try even harder to improve their skills.

MGiff, let your cat loose on them, thats sure to fix them up. Glad you are re uploading your works.

I say, Low tolerance to juvenile delinquents. Let their parents or the police fix them. Commenting for people who haven't contributed is a priviledge. I say one warning and they're gone. Why let them harm this site? Who benefits from the abusive?

[Example]
LoverOFPoo, your recent comment "listed" has generated a warning from the administators at Wincustomize. We have low tolerance for such abusive comments to the skinners. Another such warning and you will lose your ability to comment on skins at Wincustomize or maybe face exile. Thank you for your consideration in this matter. We would not like to lose your patronage.

Just a humble opinion.

Essencay, I''''ll upload Baby Blue for you. Some of the others I will upload after I correct them, there''s little problems with almost all of them that I didn''t find until after they had been uploaded.

Why don't you have an Admin restore them, then do an update? Then at least you wouldn't loose your download count
Reply #68 Top
Well, I could. I could update them one at a time I guess. Thanks Fuzzy.

By the way, is Klatuu gone?
His library is still there, with the last update in Feb.
Dunno if he's still skinning
Klatuu put up a blind last week I think. Something called beer, don't quite remember. Had a nice start menu.

Must have missed that one
/me puts glasses on...
He took that one down. The start menu was a cool beer mug.

I was wondering about Klatuu as well...the Beer WB was one of the ones that LoverOFPoo polluted with his comments. Perhaps Klatuu got disgusted with the whole thing and just decided to take the WB down.

Too bad...although I'm not a beer drinker, I still thought it was a very unique and imaginative skin.

Klatuu's skin [the beer one] was a target of these 'people' as well.

All three stooges conspired to display their social ineptitude to their own undoing.

Klatuu....the comments have been 'adjusted'.  Ignore the peanut gallery.....and likewise I can restore the skin for you.....just say the word....
