Everything Search results order

Can it be changed?

Search results in Start11 using Everything Search returns results in alphabetical order. It would be much more useful to return them in order of most recent since there can be many documents with similar names and it is more likely to be searching for a document that's been recently active. I cannot find any way to influence this behavior in Start11's settings (or Everything's) and it makes the search much less useful than it should be for me.

You are not missing a checkbox. There is no registry override for result ordering either: the two search behaviour keys we publish control accent matching and whether the most recently run app gets promoted for a given search term, and neither one sorts file results.

It has not quietly changed under you, either. The last release that touched Everything at all was 2.7, which made Everything results respect the search filters built into Start11 search. Today's 2.8 is taskbar and performance work, so updating will not move this one way or the other.

The filter bar is the only lever you have today. Filtering by file type thins out a pile of similarly named documents, which is not the recency ordering you asked for, but it does cut the list down.

Sorting Everything results by most recently modified is a fair request and this is the right forum for it. The Start11 team reads this one.
