Unable to download latest version of Start11

Hello,

I purchased a license for Stardock Start11 and I am currently using version 2.56. I can see that version 2.74 is available for download.

However, when I start the download from within the Start11 application, the download starts but nothing actually gets downloaded.

I also tried downloading the latest version directly from the Stardock website:

https://www.stardock.com/products/start11/

but I receive the following error message:

“Hmm… can't reach this page
stardock.cachefly.net took too long to respond.”

I have the same problem when downloading from "My Downloads." site

Could you please let me know how I can download and install the latest version of Start11?

Thank you for your help.

Best regards,

This is not a licence or account problem, and 2.56 will keep working normally while you sort the download out.

The error you quoted is our CDN. Both the download button on the product page and My Downloads hand off to stardock.cachefly.net, and the in-app updater will be pulling from the same host, which fits a download that starts and then never arrives.

That host is up and answering normally right now, so this looks like the network path between you and the CacheFly edge covering your region rather than an outage at our end.

Two things worth trying, in this order.

Run the download once over a phone hotspot. If it completes there, it is your ISP's route or your DNS rather than the file itself.

If a hotspot is not practical, point the machine at a different DNS resolver and retry. A stale record for stardock.cachefly.net produces this exact symptom, a connection that opens and then times out.

If both fail, let me know your country and ISP. CacheFly serves from regional edges, so that tells us which one to look at.

Thank you for your help! I managed to solve the problem by using a mobile hotspot, and everything is working now. I really appreciate your assistance!

Good, and that result is worth keeping, because it tells you where the problem actually sits. The hotspot bypassed your home connection's path to stardock.cachefly.net. Your licence and the file were never involved, and that path is still whatever it was.

The next Start11 update will come down from the same host. If you would rather not reach for the hotspot again, try a different DNS resolver on your normal connection while you are not in a hurry to get an installer. A stale record for that host produces the symptom you had, and it is the one part of the path you can change at your end.

If that turns out not to be it, the remaining suspect is your ISP's route to the CacheFly edge serving your region. That one is worth a post here with your country and ISP, since it is not something you can fix from the PC.
